Project Mythos

🙄 🙄 Well I was just wondering what everyone thought about this new branding we are doing? I was wondering if you thought this meant a new beginggin for USCC or was it just a some sort of myth that was going to last a bit and nothing come of it. Such as getting new cool phones that customer's want and getting caught of with the technology everyone else has. I don't know if you have heard the radio ad Sprint has about their unlimited plan how you can get text pic video all that for $99 and it say well Verizon and them had unlimited talk for $99 and that would be fine if this was 1999 or 90 something and all a phone could do is talk. Well I think the big guys in Chicago land need to hear that and listen this isnt the 1990's anymore s...

Man bud you need to get your stuff straight. First off you can loose your job by talking about proprietary information on here. Hope it's worth being the cool guy on the forum letting people know about stuff before it comes out. And from reading all your posts sounds like you're a very well educated individual that really knows their stuff about the phones and the network. Do some research on our testing group and how hard they work. They can only test phones so much before marketing makes them release stuff. We as a company are trying to set ourselves apart from other companies with great customer service and a great network. A cool phone will only get you so far. I have an idea for you man.....next meeting with your store take your...

No one's gonna get fired here. From what I read from the original poster the only "Proprietary Information" devulged is the "Project Mythos" name itself which has been floating around for years. USCC is a small company which has a good voice network in the "local" markets it serves and provides good customer service. What the company lacks now and has lacked for years is a focus on DATA. DATA, not voice is the future of the industry and USCC has never quite reconciled with this fact. Jack(Rooney)has opposed data services for years and only begrudgingly allowed the rollout of easyedge. Years later there is an EXTREME focus on this product. The same thought process is at play in USCC's reluctance to rollout out EVDO or other high speed ...

underground you may hit some things on the head but where you are incorrect is in your ARPU argument. You should know that currently US Cell has the highest ARPU in the states.

As for losing a job yes someone could lose their job for talking about info that has yet to be released. This is true in any realm of business, let your competitors know about something and its giving them advantage.

Maybe they should be looking at why people feel the need to post on here. If they treat their people so "wonderful" why are they on here? Because they don't. Its all a lie. I know many people who have quit because they woke up. People have learned to lie and say us cellular is their life in order to keep the paycheck. Wake up US Cellular nobody works because the company is their life, its for the money.

Of course they have the highest ARPU. Haven't you noticed their decent plans START at 49.99. Every other carrier has a 29.99 and a 39.99 plan. Most single-line customers don't need 1000 minutes, but USCC makes you get them if you want nights and weekends.

Also, forcing every customer to start with Easyedge to get their phone-rebate is a great way to boost ARPU by bending your customers over and forcing stuff they don't need up their asses.

And there is the rub, half the people complaining on here think data services like EasyEdge are stuff customers don't need or want while the other half insist that US Cellular has to become cutting edge in data if we are to survive. Honestly, neither group of complainers is right. US Cellular is chugging along at a decent pace and will stay just where it needs to be for it's continued growth and success.

To the Data mavens, try Helio, they're cutting edge and oh yes, they just got bought out. For the minimalists out there, you can always get TracPhone and buy those 200 minutes a year you want.

Bottomline... it is only partially US Cellular's fault for not have the newest, trendiest phones.

US Cellular cannot commit to purchasing the same amount of these phones as a Verizon, AT&T or even Sprint can.

Until our customer base is equivalent in size to these companies (and I personally doubt that they will ever be close), get used to selling phones that are 6 months to 2 years behind the industry standard.

USCC is in good financially standing by following the trend, not setting it. Leave well enough alone.

The phones they bring out are phones other carriers already have. They only rename them. Besides that when the launched the lg 260 and the rokr both were full of issues. Everyone and I mean everyone had to return them only to get bad ones again. A few of my friends ran into this issue to be told "its a known problem". If its known why are you selling them?

All those who post claims about what a company will or won't do, that don't pan out correctly, do the honorable thing and never post another claim in a PSForum.

Ok First you won't be fired....

2nd your points are correct....

I understand and respect everyone and the jobs they do at USCC. We have great people working that truley care (unlike the others), USCC Brand is doing better over the lasst few years but still has many problems.

The industry has focused on two new factors (style and features)
vs the old factors
(price and quality)

This is because everyone has the basic same quality and prices. I know companies like USCC have better rural coverage but that gap is being closed more and more each year. The younnger croud, like previously mentioned, want the sizzle and everyone expects the steak.

We need to focus on the process of testing our phones a little but the biggest...

Really funny how someone would sit here and state that that person would not lose their job. I would be more than willing that if that person was discovered the next day there would be a meeting stating that they are no longer with teh organization and everyone would be fine with it. I would personally walk them to the door and applaud. Anyone that works for USCC and has had a meeting recently knows what i am talking about if i say that i gurantee that a job would be lost if discovered.

Because those things cost too much.

That when in an economic downturn everyone needs to look at cutting costs, us cellular things the best place to do it is in product and cellular service in general.

That employees must make up for these lack of services in customer service.

I don't know it it will work but let's give it a try? Although it must be said companies that usually cut back at the same level never actually suceed.

Funny thing is almost everything they are boasting that they now do is what they already did. All they did was change their color. Prorated ETF is something that is being put on all carriers. They try to sound like they care but its not true. They are scared. Did you see the 4th qtr earnings? They went from 54 million to 27 million. They are going under and know it.

However I'm tired of all the negativity towards US Cellular and cutting edge technology. Between the BB Curve, the HTC 6800, The Moto Q9c and the LG Glimmer, US Cellular has some of the most cutting edge phones on the market that are NOT exclusive to another carrier.

Furthermore, I've not seen one thread on the USCC forums here about how easy edge now includes at no extra cost beyond the $9.95/month fee the top four instant messaging services, myspace, facebook, craigslist and photobucket. I've also not seen any mention that we've added digital radio services to 8 new handsets and that it doesn't require EVDO to operate.

Bluntly people, if your complaint is that US Cellular is not either Verizon or Sprint, perhaps you'd be happoer with...

i second that praise......

US Cellular has been doing much better trying to secure handsets that meat the demands and expectaitions of the consumer. The complaint you hear is from those who want the latest and greatest and don't mind giving up service quality.

"Iphone this and instinct that" is what is really hurting the industry and US Cellular's ablity to compete for those newest and greatest crowd.

If the consumer would stop falling for the marketing crap being shoved down their mouth or if the government would ban exclusive agreements and the industry would standardize to one network technology.

lol lol lol too many concerns...

until the above happens...US Cellular will continue to serve the high tech consumer tha...

How is it Kool Aid, to say I'm underwhelmed. The simple fact is the criticism here is completely out of proportion to anything short of the board of directors of US Cellular raping and killing your families. I don't mind valid criticisms of the company, but seriously this daily drum beat of derision is insane.
