Wanted: Good PDA phone that works with U.S. Cellular

I want a good PDA phone that works with U.S. Cellular. I know about that big, bulky Kyocera thing. Is there anything else that's new and/or smaller? I prefer Windows Pocket PC or Windows Mobile or whatever it's called, but I'd settle for a good Palm OS or Linux-based phone. Are there any choices besides the Kyocera? If not now, are there any coming soon? I'm due to get a new phone, but I don't want to commit to another 2-year contract if there's a better phone just around the corner. Please help.

Unfortunately, there is nothing else right now. I've heard rumors of possibly getting in some more next spring but I don't know which models, or if it's even going to happen

So it's safe for me to go ahead and commit to a 2-year contract with an ordinary phone? Doesn't sound like there's anything cool coming in the near future. Am I right? Aren't there any cool non-PDA phones coming out in the near future? U.S. Cellular's phone selection is so bland, I don't know how they can stay in business. One would think they'd come out with *something* cool one of these days.

Well we are getting the Kyocera Koi around November 24th and the Motorola V710 on December 1st.

As for a PDA, I too have been hearing rumors of possible testing. I did recently notice Audiovox release the PPC-6600 which would work perfectly on the US Cellular network. Since USCC is licensed with Audiovox maybe, just maybe we will see that phone by Spring.

Wow, that's good news! The V710 looks like it has everything I want, except a full-fledged PDA, which it doesn't sound like we're going to get any time soon. So tell me, how do you find out about what phones are coming in the future? Is this reliable information? Is there a place where we can check to see what phones are coming out? The U.S.Cellular rep told me last Friday that there are no new camera phones coming out for a long time. (Those reps are walking misinformation booths.)

Wanted: Any phone for U.S.Cellular
We currently have only 3 models of U.S. Cellular phones available to us while the local U.S. Cellular store has them all. Every purchase order we place gets us nothing.
U.S. Cellular is not at all committed to its dealer channel which it looks at as competition for its own retail stores.
I have yet to see our dealer rep.
USCC is not any different than it was when I worked for them. They are a minor league company that is blessed with competitors in their market that are worse.
Verizon will be in our market soon and I can't wait. They are the real deal. It will be a lot of fun to port the USCC customers over.

Gee, great answer that has NOTHING TO DO WITH HIS QUESTION.

If you haven't seen your AAE go higher- that's unacceptable. If you're not getting in your phone orders, go higher, that's also unacceptable! Our AAE stops in weekly. And the only thing 'minor league' about USCC is the number of customers, which is growing at a faster rate than most. we have (Or did have) the lowest churn rate in the industry.

Out of curiosity, where are you located? You must be in one of the smaller markets?

What's this you say about Verizon entering our market soon? Which market? The sparsely populated market? The rural market? The Midwest market? I live near Madison, Wisconsin, and, for us, U.S.Cellular is currently the only feasible option. Are you saying there's hope for us? Is Verizon going to expand into our area? (Currently I can sign up with Verizon, and my Verizon phone would work just fine in Madison, but, as soon as I drive home and get 1/2 hour outside of Madison, my phone would be in constant analog/roam mode.)

Eastern and Southern Oregon, Southwest Washington, Eastern Washington, Northern California, Parts of Iowa and Nebraska. Verizon bought Qwest's wireless licenses and infrastructure.
With that they could roll out such things as EVDO to rural markets.
We are thinking that in our market Verizon will capture between 25 and 50% of the USCC and Cell 1 customer base within 2 years.
We get 5-10 requests for Verizon every day because people are not satisfied with USCC or Cell 1.
It is not USCC's network that causes customer dissatisfaction but their "where else are you gonna go?" attitude that is prevalent in all USCC retail stores. (I worked in one and was disgusted with the attitude myself)
USCC stores can either deny what I am saying whi...
