5550 recall?????

I read on another forum (ok, on Alltel's forum) that USCC has re-called the 5550s because of screen problems. Well???????????

My screen is crap on mine, contrast is very light compared to the 2 other ones I bought. I have it set all the way down to about 5% or so and it is still all washed out. I complained when I bought it, but the dealer said "oh, it's not unusual for them to vary from one phone to another".

The LX5550 was not recalled. However any customer having phone problems can take it into a retail location which operates with a technician. There the tech can either repair the issue or have the phone exchanged out for an LG 4400. That is up until Thursday of this week. On that date most retail locations should receive a new shipment of 5550s corrected the problems and at that time exchanges will only be for the new 5550s.

The issue with the phones is primarily they're overpowered. The vibrating arm & external speaker fail leading to screen blackouts and bad resolution.

all in all it's being called a slective recall depending on if you have the problem with your phone or not.

if it wasn't recalled then howscome we had to ship them all back..it was recalled from uscc stores and agaents locally, and my Dm has one and it is doing all the things the recall stated...we were swapping it with the 4400 if so desired, but the phone did not sell well enough at this particular location for that to be a concern...

The words out of USC's mouth say it's not a recall, if it was a recall they would take all the phones back to everyone that bought one. The only people that are to bring them back are the ones that are having problems with it, the reason they took everyones stock from stores and agents was to minimize the chances of any phones that had the problem to be sold. New ones should being sent back out to the stores any day now I belive.
