I Called Customer Service today to change my plan to one of the new family nation wide plans and they said i had to renew my contract. Well I just renewed last month so ok. Well in the middle of changing my plan she told me oh i have to renew all of you lines for this and get this no new phone for the other lines. What a Joke. They clam you can renew without renewing what a lie. US Cellular is a joke and I am switing to Verizon. STAY AWAY FROM USCELLULAR YOU WILL BE SORRY IF YOU BECOME ONE OF THERE CUSTOMERS. GET A REAL CARRIER.

actually, u can change your plan at anytime without a contract renewal UNLESS ITS A PROMOTION. this is STANDARD with every carrier. i apologize for your misunderstanding but good look, it happens at any carrier you go to.

Then the Stupid people at US Cellular should put that on there web site. and I don't beleave for a second that you have to renew ALL you lines with a promotion at other carriers. US Cellular has so many people leaving they are trying to stop people with outragious contracts. I am looking forward to a real carrier.

I'm sorry you feel this way about US Cellular. But the statement of customer loss is completely false. US Cellular is as strong as ever and IS still growing. Check out our first QTR. results. We also offer more customer beneficial items than any other carrier out there.

CHICAGO (AP) -- Wireless carrier United States Cellular Corp. posted a 20 percent jump in first-quarter profit, topping analysts' predictions, as it added customers and service revenue increased.

Yeah, customer loss. 1.5 churn, and we added 60,000 customers (POSTPAID) in the first quarter. But watch out, we are a failing business. Sure.

It is not USCC's fault you failed to read the fine print and jumped in with both feet.

It is your job as a customer to pay attention to what you are getting into. ALL Carriers make the information available in one way or another, the trick is you have to ask.

None of what was mentioned is true. You may change your plan at anytime during your contract with no effect to the contract. That is the beauty of being a customer with Us Cellular!! It sounds like someone was just fishing for some sales when they said you needed to renew in order to get a new plan. I would definitely look before you leap, I have had other carriers and you will need to extend your contract in order to change your calling plan. Either you are stuck paying for minutes you don't use or overages cause you need more minutes. Contact customer service(1-888-944-9400) and get all of your questions answered accurately and not second hand.

I think everybody is talking about two different scenarios here. Normally yes, you can change features to your price plan whenever you want and not renew your contract. I'd guess that he was talking about the current promo running right now. He mentioned having a family plan, and with those you get your choice of nights and weekends at 7, or mobile to mobile included in that price. If you want both features, you can pay extra for the other. At least in the St. Louis market anyhow, customers who renew now through May 31 can add the other option for free. They do have to renew their contract to take advantage of this, and in the case of a family plan, all lines have to renew, since that feature effects all lines on the family plan. This...

Two different things are being discussed.

1) Regular plans allow a customer to change their plan, features etc whenever they choose with no penalty or having a contract renewed.

2) OP is speaking of the new PROMOTION that is being run regarding all 3 (Incoming Calls, Nights and Weekends, AND Mobile 2 Mobile) being included instead of the current plans being a pick N&W or M2M.

If you would read the terms and conditions of your contract is has that verbage in there. You are not required to renew your contracts, just if you want to get the promotion being run.

No only DID I read the fine print so did the lady in customer relations and she said it doen't say anything about renewing all of your lines.

Yes, all lines would need to renew to take advantage of a promotion because you are on a Family Plan where all lines would benefit from the offer. This does not affect when those lines can get new phones at a discounted price. Don't take the 3rd feature offered in the promotion and then you don't have to sign a contract. ๐Ÿ˜ณ

And no, the fine print doesn't tell you, but it does say "see store for details". Why does everyone want something for nothing? If USCC or any other carrier did everything for free they wouldn't be in business. Last I checked there is not a single non-profit cell provider out there. ๐Ÿ˜ฒ

You've been on here for more than a year, and most of your post are crying and moaning. Suck it up, contribute something her...

ok first of all jerk. what part of not renewing contracts is getting something for free. it's stupid people like you that are killing us cellular. you must be part of the marketing department. we all know what stupid stuff they come up with. and trust me i am going to a real carrier not some local joke that that won't know a good phone or plan if it was right in there face.

First of all, thank you!!!

Second, I'm the farthest thing from being in the marketing department.

Third, I told you how you wouldn't have to sign a new contract, and you didn't listen.

Good luck elsewhere. (singing) "Don't know what you got, til it's gone..."

sorry you missunderstood. Yes EVERY carrier lets you switch plans with NO contract and yes if there is a promotional plan i.e. some areas right now with a contract give you N&W at 9pm on $40 plans that normally aren't included etc. Then YES EVERY line has to renew on your account to get a promotional plan but this does not change when you are eligible for new equipment. Trust me I've worked for US Cellular and several other providers its the same US Cellular just promotes it in their advertisements.

Well, I work for US Cellular, but I've been a customer of AT&T and Sprint, and they do make you extend contract just for changing plans. US Cellular is unique in this aspect of the industry.

The only time that you are required to sign a new contract is if you want to switch to a promotional plan. Your contract term will have a new two years from that point. It is not manadatory that you sign a contract when you switch plans only when you change to a promotioanl plan.

Hm, I'm sorry for your bad experience. The contract renewal is necessary for the promotion, and the other lines do have to be renewed to get them...

but (correct me if I'm wrong other associates,) I do not believe that the equipment timer on the other handsets would be reset. SO EVEN THOUGH you had to renew the other lines with no new equipment, you would still be able to get new phones at the time you originally would have before resigning.

So if you were planning on staying with us, you really didn't lose anything.

As far as ridiculous contracts, from what I've seen ours is one of the shortest available! 2 years in comparison to some of them I've seen isn't all that bad. Plus, how many carriers allow you to renew before the two y...
