TriRyche

Still patiently waiting for the Motorola e815 to arrive at MetroPCS
(that is if the rumors are true, of course)

Anyone have an update on this?

I hope they are right about the 6265 being tested and not the 6155 which looks just as plasticky and cheap as the 6255i. I know Metro is a no frills carrier but why would Nokia cheapen themselves by making that kind of junk?

it is in fact the 6265i, have it in hand now. The screen resolution is amazing and so is the 2 megapixel camera. The handset volume is a little low but the sound quality is good. At first I thought the sliding mechanism seemed a little flimsy but after getting used to it its just the way its designed to work and its actually quite solid. The metro model is all black

I haven't seen anything about the 6165 or E815 arrival dates yet. Metro will have the samsung A850 in soon, likely in the nest two weeks. You can even see that on samsungs website.

The only other phones I've heard of is the E815, but with no ETA, and the Moto "Q" which will probably accompany the announcement of a new rateplan tiering that includes data/wap/internet access.

6165 and 6265 are in test and demo. The samsung a850 just completed test and demo's. We also just received a demo for the kyocera strobe 612. Their was alot of talk about the moto e815 but we still never received a demo for it so i beleive it may of been scrubbed. Theirs also talk of getting a low end nokia flip that sports bluetooth and will acutally come in cheaper than the 2125.

the indirects have allready received the samsung a850 and retail will get them by the end of this week. The 6265, 6165, and kyocera strobe are in test, the nokias should be released by the end of july. No word on e815 its my theory that it may not come as there still are no test or demo available for it.

Thank you for the update. Approximately how long does the testing period last? Assuming the testing is successful, what is an estimate as to when this phone may be available?

I have been waiting since January. My current phone is dropping calls, the numbers are sticking and I need a new phone. The e815 is the phone I want but I am not sure how much longer I can nurse mine along.

Thanks for any additional insights you can provide.

Its nearly impossible to say, usually when they say they plan to launch a phone in july, look for it in late august early september. My guess for the e815 would be end of july mid august.

Any updates on the Motorola e815 testing?

Thanks

Not really, usually the stages go as such:
manufacturer rep gossips about it...
shows up on product roadmap...
one switch engineer gets one in each market...
customer operations manager gets one to test...
a box of 10 or so phones goes to customer operations to distribute as demos...
phone shows up on brightpoint to order...
phones show up in stores...

right now the e815 is at the one to the switch engineer stage, i'll keep you updated

Thanks for the update!

Should not be too much longer now, it seems.

I was about to seek activating an older MetroPCS Kyocera 2235 handset.
I recently learned I would have to pony-up a 15.00 fee and not qualify
for the first month of service free apparently, if I provided the Kyocera 2235.

When I finally aquire the Motorola e815,
there should not be any fees to swap the Kyocera out for the e815,
but I still would not get a month of service free,
since it would not be a 'new' activation at that stage.

Feel free to advise

Yeah thats true about the "reactivation fees" for bringing in your own phone, it all depends on how quickly you need phone service, if you can be patient its wise to wait for the phone you really want as you'll get a better deal, if not then you gotta do what you gotta do, im sure you can at least get a $10 credit if you trade in the kyocera when the e815 arrives, of course my real advise would to buy a new nokia 2125 get the free month of service, and when the e815 comes out, buy it full price and put the 2125 on ebay...

Seriously??

I appreciate the update -

I'll either be staying with Sprint/Nextel or be reconsidering
T-Mobile or Verizon's offerings from here on in.

The lure of MetroPCS' unlimited plans become less relevant
if I finish setting-up my TrixBox and pair it with a Cellular plan that allows unlimited calls to a
few pre-designated numbers (i.e. Sprint, Alltel, etc)

I just have no interest in any of the current MetroPCS phones offered,
RAZR included (your paying more for its design,
and getting subpar performance,
from what I keep hearing/reading.)

Please let us know if the e815 is reconsidered.

Cheers!

There are actually 12 new phones on the roadmap, most should launch by november (holiday sales hype type thing) i will try to post a full list when i remember to do so, im not a big fan of utstarcom (audiovox) but we just received a very classy looking very thin new flip phone, it has a brushed metal finish with chrome accents, ill post the model number again when i remember to do so but i searched phonescoop and utstarcom.com and did not see it posted yet. Also the Q is on the map, still waiting for the test phones to arrive for that, might actually give up the 6265 for that one
