Nokia 6255i Help!

What's goin on people, I'm thinking of getting another phone with MetroPCS (the v266 is not what I wanted, it doesn't do anything for the price 😡 )..

Anyway, I was wondering what restrictions MetroPCS had on the Nokia 6255i. Did they hinder any of the features? How well does BT work with it? Is the MMC Slot available? Can you upload your own MP3s onto the phone?

These features that I want are gonna be the dealbreaker as to which phone I switch to. I don't want the RAZR, since so many people have it, plus there is no expandable memory. Anyway, thanks for any help.. 🙂

the bt is not crippled on the 6255i, you also have ir too. It takes either an mmc card or a reduced size secure digital, not sure why but it wont work with a full size sd, tried it. You can upload your own mp3's and use them as ringtones as well. Also the great thing with nokia is you can download nokias pc suite for free at nokia.com, motorolas phone tools costs 29.99. What market are you in? the 6255i wont be arround much longer, its going to be replaced with the 6165i which will lack the external memory and ir

😲 Oh Sh!t..

So there are going to get rid of this phone now? I'm in the Metro Atlanta area, so I'm not sure how long they're gonna continue to carry it.

So, how do you initially get the mp3s on there and stuff? Did a cable come with it? Did they supply a bluetooth? If not, what would be a good additional purchase with this thing..

Thanks for the reply.. Thanks for you help..

MetroPCS is currently testing the Nokia 6265i slider phone. According to a Nokia rep I spoke to in Atlanta, Metro has signed on to release the phone, and it will be out late July/ Early August. It has a 2mp camera and a really good 640x480 video quality.

The phone seems to be a decent upgrade from the 6255i. I'm sure it will cost more.

Could I get a reply back from my last post? My final questions about the 6255i? I'm really thinking about buying it.

Plus, where's a good place to shop for MMC, I have no clue about those things, whether or not which one fits, and what's the best value.

Thanx Again.. L8r!

Don't buy the 6255i. The casing on the phone is plastic and very cheap, even the hinge. The phone scratches very easily and after 3 weeks the hinge developed a crack. Metro PCS does not stand behind it at all; claims it is physical abuse. What do you expect from a no frills carrier! Just be glad you can make calls.

So you don't think the jampacked features and the pros of the phone outweigh that part? I know that this is the major and probably only complaint about this phone, outside of a few "picky" things (shut phone = same screen, can't put a ringer to each person).. I can get over those things...

So, u think the casing just completely makes this phone useless?

Thanks..

I am fan of Nokia phones but I thought the talk time and reception was not as good as my old 6235i; noticeably worse and the phone is too bulky to put in your pants pocket.

The casing is truly cheap. Ask to make a couple of calls on one in the store. It makes cracking sounds while you talk on it. If you switch phones every couple of months you will be fine but if you keep them for a year plus you are not going to be happy.

If you still want to buy one, look on ebay. There are some new ones advertised for at least 100.00 less than Metro PCS wants for one.

Ok.. thanks bro.. I was looking forward to, and still am, to buying this phone.. I'm just not sure, I feel like it would be a good buy, since I'm fascinated with all the features..

I have a tendency to feel bad after an expensive purchase, so, I don't know.

Do you feel like this is a better phone than the Motorola v266 (this is what I own now)..

I would just hold out for the e815, sorry no eta yet. As for the mmc card, its easiest to find one online or settle for the nokia reduced size sd, you would be very hard pressed to find a mmc card in a store now. The best way to put mp3s on it is to use a mms/sd read/write or use infrared or bluetooth, I wouldnt bother with the data cable, you can get a Kensington bluetooth usb adapter for about $30 The case is very cheap feeling and there were many cases of cracked hinges, and nokia never owned up to shoddy workmanship and offer credit or cosmetic refurbish so it was insurance claim or bust.
