travel talk alive & well in houston
Yesterday morning I called MetroPCS customer service and added "Travel Talk" to the account. Used it this evening here in Houston with an incoming call. I had to press "1" before connecting and to acknowlege the $0.49/minute roaming rate.
Quite pleased. If I get anywhere close to Dallas/Fort Worth area tomorrow or Friday I'll try the new MetroPCS market there.

wow...but can i use my metro phone anywhere in the usa...this is what the lady i got it from told me? the way it seems in what you say is i can only use it in other"metro areas" if thats true then whats the big deal..because its only in like 4 states...which doesnt help me when i go to alabama? or will it work now if i pay for roaming? and how do i pay for roaming? 😁

What did you misunderstand on my post? TravelTalk allows you to use outgoing/incoming calls on your MetroPCS phone provided you have funds on your MetroConnect account.
Rate is $0.49/minute except for some areas near current MetroPCS markets, where the rate is $0.79/minute. Majority of the roaming service is provided with agreements with Verizon Wireless.
If you are in any MetroPCS market (San Francisco, Sacremento, Atlanta, Tampa, Miami, Dallas, Detroit) your phone will work without any roaming or roaming charges. Update your phone's current roaming list by *228 before leaving on the trip.

its avaialable you just have to have money in your account it ranges anywhere from .49 to .79 a minute depending what part of the US. it may seem much but its betterr thatn paying 10.00 for a couple of minutes(it use to be like that) and it should get better with time. I wish they would train these people better. Metro is found in San Jose San Fran detroit dallas atalnta central florida down south, soon to be in LA. Any questions I'll do my best to answer. 😎

ok but you can use it anywhere in the usa that verizon has network? which means that they have agreements with verizon? my brother works for verizon wireless in washington state and he said they dont have agreements with metro pcs..so who is telling me the truth..i want real honesty because i can get amped and have 99.99 unlimited and yes its twice as much but if i can use it allover it is better right? thats what he said i should do..because amped has an agreement with verizon...which is cool and you can download videos and go on the web..my metro hasnt done that..but then again i just got it like last week and havent tried everything

You cant Vcast type stuff yet metro is getting it soon. As far as amped vs Metro its more of a "do you travel more than stay home or stay home more than you travel. Weigh out the differences, but remember metro has no contracts. 🙂

Travel talk is an agreement with Verizon, to use Verizon home network only. Not their entire network. Remember all networks have roaming agreements. No one company spans every state and city in the US. Travel talk will allow the metro customer to travel from Metro service area to metro service area and allow the customer to use their phone just like in their home area. It also allows them to use their phone at a rate of 49 or 79 cent per min in the Verizon home network. The 79 cent is for the future areas of metro and current surrounding areas. The 49 cents price is for non metro areas.
