MetroPCS now has authorized dealers in Martin (Stuart), St Lucie (Fort Pierce) and Indian River (Vero Beach) counties on the Florida east coast. Coverage of MetroPCS now extends from Jupiter to Sebastian.

I look forward to Tampa/St. Petersburg/Sarasota being operational by this September. It does remind me of the days of Primeco slowly increasing their coverage of Florida.

I'm glad that metropcs will expand their coverage area, because sometimes I go north and I have to use pay phones, cuz I don't want to use a credit card to make a call in roaming.

Drove from Boca Raton to Land O' Lakes via I-75 (thru Tampa) on 1 September 2005. Coverage was fine until just north of Port Charlotte. "No Service Available" was the screen display on the Nokia 6255i the rest of the way. Even in Tampa itself there was no service.

MetroPCS is opening their Tampa, Sarasota, St. Petersburg stores on 15 September. I gather that service will start then or sooner. Tomorrow I'm driving back to Fort Lauderdale thru Tampa, will see if service has commenced by then.
