SmartPhone Capabilities for MetroPCS?
I have a few questions regarding two MetroPCS Smart Phones. I have asked customer service reps in the store and a technical support rep by telephone. However, they appear only moderately knowledgeable because they have not actually used the Smart Phones. I have read posts on other forums on the internet and been able to find limited information. The information I have found really does not answer my questions. The two models that work on MetroPCS for which I am interested are the Samsung Code and the BlackBerry 8330. I am currently using a Nokia 2270, so this will be a big change. My questions are as follows:

I've used the Code but I cannot answer all of your questions as I didn't keep it. You really do get what you pay for in life. If you NEED all of the toys, you also NEED the $100 phone bill of the big carriers. I love Metro but I use it as a phone first. Web, GPS, and other features I use very sparingly.

This response was really not quite what I was looking for in a reply. If I was not cost conscience then I would not have posted. If I was cheap then I would not be looking for a Smart Phone. My goal is with research to get a decent Smart Phone at a reasonably above average price. Yes, with research I expect to get an above average deal, though I am not looking for a miracle. I am not ignorant of the fact that you can not get something for nothing.
With that explained, I don't necessary want top of line. I am certain that I can do without a Nexus for a couple of years. The show-stoppers are GPS, internet, and size of the phone. Coverage is not of concern because I do not currently travel.

Again I say, you're not going to get everything you want for $50 per month.
GPS works great on the Code. Google maps will work on the Code. Will it allow you to be located using the GPS functionality? I'm uncertain.
Web is painfully slow for big projects. If you need to quickly check an e-mail or refer to something on a website, it's fine. If you want something fast, once again...different network.

Agreed. I like Metro as well but as the saying goes, "you get what you pay for" If only Metro had EVDO in my market and an Android handset, I would have staye...

Both the Code and Blackberry have their GPS enabled and work with google maps. The Code is a Windows mobile 6.1 standard edition phone and will run all software designed to work with this version. The blackberry runs OS 4.5 and works with all software designed for this platform with the exception of streaming media like Pandora. The Blackberry is a CDMA handset and works only in the San Francisco, Sacramento, Atlanta, Florida, Los Angeles and Dallas markets. The Code is AWS as well and adds Detroit, New York, Philadelphia, Las Vegas, D.C., Chicago markets. Blackberries can be readily updated to new os revisions as they are released. This is not the T-Mobile forum. However after looking more closely at the Even More Plus Plans, I see it is less unreasonable in rates than AT&T plans. My decision continues to lean heavily toward Metro PCS.
