I been with Metro PCS since December 2, 2008. I own a Samsung Spex. I am considering upgrading to the Samsung Messenger. But I don't know how the process works. I also want to know how much this is going to cost me besides the cost of the phone.

there's no discount upgrade with metro. you would have to pay full price for whatever phone you want and probably an activation fee...

This is absolutely false. As long as you've been with Metro for at least a year you begin to qualify for discounts. They also offer trade in on your own phone and there ARE NO ACTIVATION FEES!

Get a clue!

Have you been going to Metro stores? If so, when was the last time. They're much more customer friendly today at the Metro stores. The independent dealers on the other hand don't have a great deal going with Metro in my opinion. These guys will nickel and dime you because they have to. Still shouldn't be paying an activation fee unless you're changing your number.

I have the messenger in red and its a great phone. There is no activation fee, but I'm not aware of any discounts. I do know that they offer you about $20-$30 fir your old phone. If you aren't very attached to your phone number you might even consider getting a completely new account that would give you the first month free.(the first month you have the plan with everything, then you can change it)

First of all, there are no activation fees, only when you reactivate a phone there is a $15 fee, and if you are a customer for 1000000 years metro doesnt offer a discount on upgrades, you can trade your old phone in and get about 10-30 off the new phone. Depending on the store they might be able to put your new info on the new phone. someone said something about a fee for changing your number, that gets added to your next months bill.

Actually it depends on the market. Detroit has an upgrade program thats limited to Metro stores and dealers with warranty centers. If your account is 30 days to 6 months old out of warranty phone its $10, 7-12 months, $20, and 13+ its $30. In warranty its same timeline but its $30, $40, and $50 off any new handset. Its very hard to have an in-warranty phone though.

Dealers have to pay bills so they charge $10-$15 to do esn changes to used phone, or a phone book transfer, but they hardly charge when you're buying an new phone unless they know they can like in rich areas.

Let me break this down so people can understand what I'm saying.

1. I have absolutely no intention on getting a new phone number. Just a new phone.

2. I didn't say or mention anything about a discount. Let me quote again what I said. "I also want to know how much this is going to cost me besides the cost of the phone".

3. I personally don't care if there is a $5 - $50 activation fee. As long my new phone works.

Let me rephrase what I said in the beginning. I am getting a new phone with my current Metro number. How does this work and what costs will I have to pay out besides the purchase of the phone.

Go to the Metro Store. Select your phone. You will pay the retail price listed, no more and no less. You may qualify for a trade in credit for your old phone.

Simple question, simple answer. Good day.
