i am not sure about the numbers for metropcs. tell me, please, who are they affiliated with then i will do some research to try to find the quarter numbers for you.

by the way, many carriers use carrier's towers.

Of course Metro has to have roaming agreements, whether they tell you or not.

Well, if you can find out for me who they are and additional information i will be happy to take a look for you. i dont really deal with small companies like that, especially not public ones that i can get my hands on their numbers.

well don't waste your time. i just wanted to know. it seems to me between qwest, cricket, and metro there has got to be something great enough to keep these supersmall companies alive.

i was wondering about metro the most because their coverage is scattered and they clearly state the run their own operation ground up and are expanding. but in very very small stages as if they truely are building their own network.

i wonder if the cost of upgreading to a newer technology will hurt a small company like this on the part of affordability.

but hey i'll do some harder research and see if i can find anything.

As I said I don’t really to do much research on the smaller companies unless someone has or they have actually information I can look at whether I can get my hands on or if the person can get any information. I tend to not look at those guys because they are small and not really worth my time to do some research and analysis their operations. Well those companies are sort of mvno’s but not really. Most of them lease and pay for capacity use on the bigger boys’ networks or perhaps they have a small network but they pay for roaming which in turn increases their coverage.

The smaller companies could do that, however, in order to survive they have to link with a bigger company whether it is financially or by the network and infrastructure...

have you seen the coverage map for this company? if you look at it i guarantee you'll see that they indeed have no roaming agreements. it looks as if you took evey tower they have you could barely cover all of texas.

but sure i'll do some surfing and give you a holler if i find any thing on this company. and how they survive.

To be frank, I haven’t looked at this company at all because as I said I don’t follow little companies. As I said before, it is very hard if you are a small company to do it all yourself without any affiliation with the bigger boys it is just impossible and not sound for them. I don’t know one company who doesn’t have any affiliation with another company.

I take your word for it, however, it is just not a business sense to do it all yourself and not have any agreements what so ever.

Yea, do some searching and find out as much as you can and we can start having a dialogue about it.

I have just been looking at it while I have been posting and the only thing I can see is stuff from 2004 and 2003 and back because perhaps they were a...

Really. What information do you want to know. We launched in four markets in 2002 with one phone and one rate plan. Since then we've expanded those initial four markets to huge coverage areas and also purchased additional markets which will launch very soon. We do build out our own network, and our engineers are some of the best in the industry.

As far as the number of customers I can't give out that information since we are a privately funded company. I'll tell its more than you think though.

If you want to know anything else, let me know. I'll tell you everything that public about the company.

MetroPCS jsut released a press release in Q1'06 stating they had reached 2 million active handsets. Not bad for only being in a handfull of major cities.

Last I checked theres about 200 million active handsets in the US so 1% market share for the new kdis on the block. Not shabby at all.
