just go to metro's website at www.metropcs.com and you will find the metro's blackberry.

Is the same model as the boos berry, the bb 8330.

However, rumor has it the newest curve 8530 will hit metro later this summer, so you might want to wait.

the bb 8330 was not offered to the NY market because of recuency bands incompatibility.

The 8330 works only on Metro's legacy markets like Fl, TX, etc which operate on the PCS frecuency.

Newer markets like NY or Las Vegas operate on a different frecuency band known as AWS.

Eventough is not officially confirmed yet it is rumored in several forums that Metro will update to the newer Curve 8530 and supposly it will be compatible with the AWS band.

I guess time will tell.

Yeah, the older markets, florida, atlanta, texas, and i think even some parts of detroit, use the cdma frequency only, since metro wasnt big enough yet, when they built the aws markets blackberry wasnt going to make phones for just metro.

However, the new blackberry curve 8530 is coming to the newer markets this summer (my boss told me julyish) So I guess we just wait ... I actually seen the new blackberry for the newer markets, so its not a rumor, there coming, there letting indirects use them now

Its slimmer and no trackball. The software has been upgraded and it has wifi. It can travel in all Metro markets and I think its lighter too. But don't hold me to that. I held it in my hands for only a few seconds.

its because the network is different. NY VEGAS PHILADELPHIA & Boston are on a new AWS network. it runs on a different frequency that cant be picked up on the phones they sell in the southern and california markets. they are phasing out the old phones and only making the AWS ones available so that people can travel between markets without having service issues
