MetroFlash LG Voyager

Jul 4, 2008, 12:20 AM
Ok so I want to get the LG voyager from Verizon and flash it to MetroPCS. Is there anyone that has sucessfully done this? Will I lose any features on the phone such as the Navigator or the MP3 Player?? Any info would be helpful as a Voyager is a huge investment and I don't want to waste my time and money if i am going to lose some of the features that I am looking for.

Thanks in advance

I just did it last night! It works but you can only use the voice (or phone) service and regular text. No MMS or Web. I did lose every game I had on it and I also lost the music player. Ive been searching the web since last night looking for an answer to the music player thing but havnt found anything yet.

That does suck though because the music player is

Thanks

Am i sending it as a text message? Nothing comes up on the screen when I enter the SYM, only when I hit the #3 and then it looks like I am going to call someone. can you please clarify what will show up when I enter this code? Also, where is the lgservice menu you are referring to? Thank you for your help.

Look guys, when a non-branded Metro PCS handset has been "Metro Flashed", the ONLY functions that may work, is voice and text. Platforms, OS, software, hardware, may be different, that will disable a lot of features on a non-branded Metro PCS handset.

yes i realize that and after reading numerous posts about the phone functionality after MetroFlash, I see that it depends on the phone which applications and such will still work. Thats why I want to know specifically about the "LG Voyager" and what will still function on THAT specific phone.

Talk and text only. Apps are supported by VZW, not Metro PCS. (ex. V-Cast is a TM of VZW).

Since the LG Voyager is BREW supported, MMS may work. It's a 50/50 chance. All depending on the "flash" program. J2ME platform handsets will not enable MMS.

i have vzw razr2 and was going to flash it to usc firmware for the better outsie features. there was a big long process about hot to do it, and you had to copy a bunch of stuff off the razr, then flash it, then put it back.

so technically speaking, it sounds like, if someone knew how to do it, you could flash it to metro, then re-flash it to vzw but with all the metro prl and programming codes and essentially have a factory-looking voyager on the metro service. i dont know if this makes sence or helps, but i tried

i have flashed the lg voyager and the apps are all disabled no music player, no sending pictures, no web access, the video recorder works, you can take pictures, all the general apps like colander, calculate, bluetoorh, alarm clock, my pictures, and camera still work. text of course works.

also when you flash the voyager after the flash reset the phone so all the features will work otherwise it will say no valid application.

our metro rep in California said that there will be a update to the software provided by Houdini and this will place all the missing apps back in the phone but this will require re flashing the phone and it will be less then 35 dollars for this update

Are you able to access @metro and utilize the apps available there? The touchscreen still works, though, right? And does it still read your text messages for you? Also, any idea how long before the update? Thanks... I'm in a dither over this!

actually no your not out of luck you can get ringtones, wallpapers and you can play music as well its just alittle complicated

1st you need a program called bitpim you can download the program at bitpim.org once you have this program you drag and drop music files into the ringtone section and transfer them to the phone with the push feature. this is the only way ro get ring tones

2nd for pictures and wallpapers this has to be done through the sd card and you have to make sure you put the pics in the proper place for use

3rd for music this is also done through the sd card place all the mysic files under my sounds and you will be able to play your music as long as they are stored in my sounds.

and in the san francisco bay area i ...
