Flashing a phone?? Is this possible??

I heard from a friend that a phone can be flashed or what is the same its firmware could be re-written so you can use it on another carrier as long as is the same technology.

So could I use another CDMA phone on metro pcs if a get it flashed??

Do anyone knows where can I finf more info on how to do it or where???

What type of phones are proven to be flashed and succesfully switched if anyone knows/

Any info apriciated.

Yes, this is a pilot program Metro PCS has in certain markets, including Sacramento,ca. You can go to CERTAIN Corporate stores and have your CDMA (Verizon, Sprint) phone 'flashed' to work on Metro. They do charge $30 for the flash and only voice and text are working so far. There is word that some GSM (iphone) phones also work but with problems and some phones get internet as well, but not guaranteed.
