Sprint - The Most Expensive Carrier
Fast forward to 2014: no more sweet retention deals, no more fabulous plans, and no easy access to roaming-partner networks when inside a fringe area or metal building.
Unless you are able to convince nine other people to go in with you, your monthly bill will be the highest in the industry. Sprint has essentially forced its customers to work for better pricing with the Framily plans.
To add to all this, Sprint's new network was merely their Johnny-come-lately rollout of 4G. I had high hopes two years ago that my tri-band phone would enjoy the enhanced covera...

My company stayed with Sprint after the iDEN shutdown. I carry a Sonim Strike at work and the push-to-talk feature is way slower and less reliable than Nextel's instantaneous system was.
Sprint, I think you shut down the wrong network and kept the wrong name. Your business customers were the backbone of the company, and you did away with them by making poor decisions. You might as well not have customer care reps because none of them are allowed to do anything anymore anyway.
Come December, all three of my lines will be out of contract and I'll head somewhere else.

I just downloaded Zello on my Galaxy Tab 3. It's about as close to Nextel as it gets.
If Zello doesn't work out for you, you might consider giving Prip a try (website is simply "prip.me"). They charge $1.99/mo, which I understand may well be a show-stopper for many folks when they can get Zello or other satisfactory app for free, but Prip is a cooperation between NII and Motorola, i.e. it was commissioned & built by the original kings of PTT. Prip allows a single account to purchase multiple lines and dole them out to whatever users/relatives you want to give/lend the PTT app to, then reassign them at will to other numbers. I believe they also have a free 30-day trial.
Just a thought in c...

I have been using Zello to communicate with a friend in Argentina. It's just as fast as Nextel was and very reliable - even sounds the same. I really don't want a pay service when Zello is free.
Does Prip have a free version?

Coverage and network performance is about the same as a year ago, before Sprint started tinkering with everything.

Not a free version per se, just the first month free & you can cancel within the first month if you don't like it.

For just a few PTT users among friends or family, I'm sure Zello or the like does the trick. For any kind of business, or for a large family (or "framily" ;-) that us...
