May be hype, but if it's true this is an unexpected twist of the knife that killed Nextel:

Didn't take Softbank long to figure out Sprint's branding issues. Sprint tanked in Consumer Reports latest poll while their MVNOs fared well.

Too many brand names!

I agree, via all of the acquisitions they have too many brand names floating around and should tidy up a bit.

It's true that pre-Sprint, Nextel had the highest proportion of business & government customers, but Nextel was synonymous with bulletproof PTT and comparatively secure transmission, not data. So I still don't get why they would be considering slapping the Nextel brand name on a business-oriented high-speed-data service with no mention of PTT (and zero marketing of even their CDMA-based PTT since killing off Nextel...

I believe all that will be included as well, although no mention of it in the article. I predict the Sprint name goes away completely in the future.
