That may well be the next step. We wanted to give the Torques a try, because there are definitely advantages to a "smartphone", but as you pointed out in another recent post, they can be far more hassle than they are worth. If Sprint & Kyocera don't fix these major defects in the Torque, we'll abandon them, likely for the DuraXT.

BTW, one of the brand-new replacement Torques started doing the lockup routine overnight, so apparently it's a deeper problem than just a few bad phones.

Although when it is working correctly SDC is pretty darn close to NDC, our SDC experience so far has been less than perfect like Nextel was. I don't know how much of it might be the CDMA network still not being up to snuff here, or how much of the "un-Nextel-like" operational glitches might be related to the Torques themselves.

In your area, using the DuraXT phones, do you notice things like at DC call initiation it chirps the sender's phone well before it has established the connection & chirped the receiving phone? The way it is supposed to work is (1) I press the PTT button to initiate a DC call, (2) it contacts the receiving phone & chirps them to notify them of an incoming DC call, (3) it chirps my phone to let me know the connection has been established & I'm clear to begin speaking. But many times with SDC so far on the Torques, rather than the Nextel logical steps 1-2-3 described above, with our SDC it goes in the order 1-3-2. What's up with that? Have you experienced that with SDC on the XT?
