AT&T continues its march on SDC: NextMail-like apps

by cellphonesaretools    Mar 14, 2013, 2:52 PM

I've used Nextel's "NextMail" system for years, it is a very handy, ultra-efficient tool that Nextel developed with a third-party called Pacific Data Vision (located in the San Diego area, I believe). One of the things that's helped keep me with Sprint is the Nextel NextMail capability, something none of the other US carriers offered.

Today AT&T announced "pdvConnect" with a suite of features & capabilities that sound just like Nextel's NextMail offerings. I'm guessing since AT&T calls it "pdvConnect" that they have also contracted with Pacific Data Vision ("PDV") to provide these same services for AT&T users.

This is good news for AT&T customers, as the NextMail capability is an awesome tool, one I would not want to live without, having used it on our Nextel phones since 2005 or so.

One more reason to give AT&T a shot at earning the business of departing Nextel customers.
