Re: Sprint Dura XT
I'm expecially interested in two aspects:
1) How is the speakerphone, both for PTT calls & for regular voice calls in speakerphone mode? The DuraPlus (Kyocera's SDC bar-phone model) was introduced with severe speakerphone defficiencies & inconsistencies. See Eric Zeman's review of the DuraPlus a few months ago, and comments posted thereafter—an excerpt and the links are pasted below. We had the same problem with the two DuraPlus models we tried, both had the terrible speakerphone defect and had to be returned. Thank goodness back then Sprint would still reactivate iDEN phones, so we're still using the wonderful Moto i365 until Sprint can correct the early Kyocera deficiencies.
2) Did Kyocera fix the "Two-Touch DC" problem yet? Recall that the Nextel Moto's that were set to One-Touch DC mode work correctly, i.e. from dark screen "standby mode" a single press of the PTT button connects to the programmed One-Touch DC recipient, whereas the Kyocera phones required TWO presses, one to bring the phone out of "dark screen" standby mode, then a second press to initiate the DC call. I do hope they have fixed that oversight by now.
Thanks for the post, it will be great to hear your next report.
BTW, did your company already make the switch from NDC on iDEN to SDC on CDMA? If so, how did the migration go? If your company is still using Nextel DC, what are their plans when NDC is shut off in June?

In reference to (1) above, here is what Eric had to say about the DuraPlus sound quality back in March:
"The DuraPlus's call performance was very inconsistent. I tested two different phones multiple times across multiple test points. Sometimes call quality was "ok" and sometimes it was poor. In-call volume performance was also inconsistent. Sometimes the earpiece volume was acceptable, other times it was too quiet -- even though the volume was set to the maximum. Performance with the speakerphone was similar. At times it was skull-shatteringly loud, and other times it wasn't strong enough to overcome the noise made by strong winds."
