Best phone for what I need?
Hi, I have a Samsung A460 right now and it's not doing me any justice. Battery life is bad, and I get almost no reception in my basement, which is where I am in my house generally. Any suggestions for phones that have better battery life and grab a signal more effectively? Thanks and let me know.

I had the N400 and had the same problems. I got a Sanyo 8100 and it keeps a longer battery life because of the "sleep" mode. It also picks up a signal better than the N400. I know people say the phones shouldn't make a difference when it comes to signal but with the N400 vs the 8100, I can see a big change.

I am a Sprint PCS vision expert from the Southern California area. I will tell you that the Sanyo 8100 is the best for for reception, it may be a camera phone, and that may be more than what you need. Sanyo, though, makes phones exclusively for Sprint here in the U.S. they are experts at CDMA techology and I have dozens of customer I sell phones to who can attest to that. Also what you might want to do is dial *2 from your phone and contact customer service to get a software update for your phone. So keep that in mind.

If good reception is what you need, then Sanyo is the way to go. The 4900 has the best reception, but it has been discontinued. The 5300 and 8100 are great, too. The RL 2000 (7200) and RL 2500 (5400) hopefully will be out sometime before next year. Battery life on the Sanyos is good too, my 4900 has well over 4 hours talk time, I usually charge it once every one to two weeks. Of course, the clamshells won't have quite as much battery life as the candybar style does; and if you use Vision, play games, or roam in analog it will decrease your battery life significantly.

The GS2 is a great handheld computer, but it has really lame reception. The Motorola Photon probably has the best reception out of all Sprint smartphones.

a new phone in general would pry be just fine or go with a motorola xprt or photon.. both have great reception.
