I'm just wondering if we as sprint customers are gonna be left waiting for a few years.

It does seem that Sprint has completely squandered their first-to-market advantage, as they have slowed the pace of lighting up WiMax. ☹️

It sure seems as though both Verizon and T-Mobile are both lighting up their "4G" networks at a faster pace than Sprint is building out WiMax. 👀

Another opportunity that Sprint had in its hands but let it get away. 🤭

*fixed*

Sorry dont considered tmobiles enhanced 3g network to be 4g. Only LTE and Wimax have true 4g capability. I think they both have theoretical speeds of 200 mbs correct me if I'm wrong.

Most of the real-world tests done by tech mags, tech websites, etc have shown that T-Mobile's HSPA+ is in general faster than Sprint's WiMax. Not at everyplace tested, but overall.

Of course all that can change with a system upgrade, but last I saw, Sprint's average upload & download speeds with WiMax were far below Verizon's LTE and in many parts of the US Sprint's WiMax is slower than T-Mo's HSPA+.

Although 10 Mbit/second is indeed better than 5 Mbit/second, in reality a solid 5 Mbit/second is very liveable for the vast majority of users. Sure, some people will always want more of everything, but only a small percentage will ever really NEED anything approaching 10 Mbit/second. So if T-Mo's HSPA+ is reliably 3-5 Mbit/second, that's b...

I really doubt RIM would make a WiMAX blackberry just for Sprint.
You might see faster 3G blackberries for ATT and LTE for VZW and eventually ATT.

I believe there starting to wonder about continuing with WiMax or go to LTE.

Sprint’s been having a lot of trouble lighting up new WiMax towers as of late – it’s been a REALLY, REALLY long time since we last saw another city get 4G. Part of it is due to Clearwire’s financial situation that’s all but frozen their efforts to expand their WiMax offering.
If you thought Sprint might have wanted to consider LTE before because of the situation, then you’ll be happy to learn that they’ll probably have no choice. PC World caught up with Sprint’s Bob Azzi, who is their senior vice president of networks.
If Sprint wanted to move on without Clearwire, then they’d have to use LTE technology b

And meanwhile us the customers have to wait yet again while Sprint makes up its mind what it wants to do. If the upgrade to the towers is that easy why not get it done?? And what about handsets or will the existing ones be useless???

You gotta figure Sprint's kind of in a hard spot. They're currently attacking the possible ATT/TMO merger. Looking at having to switch over to LTE, what to do with Clear wire if that happens. And again how to compete if the ATT/TMO merger does go through.

Once everyone annouced a couple of years back they were going LTE Sprint should've abondoned Wimax then & started moving to LTE. They have no one to blame but themselves.
