Changes & challenges

The rumors of Sprint absorbing T-Mobile are interesting. Possibly a good thing if it formed a viable alternative to the 'mega-coms', VZW & Att.

Mostly curious about the reported coming of the Nexus S on the Sprint CDMA network. I've wanted the Nexus, but not on TMo due to poor local coverage.

Any confirmations from within the mothership?

Not sure on the nexus even though it does seem legit. The View has just got some confirmation with the name HTC Evo view 4g being trademarked. This was also part of the leaked info about the Nexus 4g and Evo 3D. If everything is true Sprint will have one awesome line up once again. 😎

They've told us that "there is no information confirming or denying this rumor".

It could go either way; they said that with the iPhone and everyone thought we'd get it, but we didn't.

Thanks for the input.
A merger might just shift the status-quo.

It would be interesting indeed. Only thing I see standing in the way is that T-Mobile is GSM and Sprint is CDMA also they are both headed in completely different directions with the network technology. WiMax vs. HSPA+. We were told to reply "T-Mobile can’t speculate on rumors, but please know T-Mobile products and services will remain as is for the foreseeable future" exact quote.

I'd wondered about the CDMA/GSM difference as well. I recall a news byte from several months ago wherein Sprint was/had reportedly building it's infrastructure with a redundancy capacity regarding the 'final' selection for the "4G" standard. (The could go either way)

But this "merged company" would become a GSM and CDMA company because to get all customers on the same network either way you would have to replace millions of phones. I dont think anything is going to happen in the forseeable future. I mean T-Mobile is still launching new markets for HSPA+ if there was going to be some sort of merger wouldn't there be a pause in forward movement.

Yeah but think about how many phones they are going to have to mass produce to have a full line-up. I just very highly doubt its legit but you never know

Guess I got that wrong.
My pen-name was in celebration of the ancient break-up of the evil one. It looks as though it is being re-born.
