Attention: Samsung Epic 4G Existing Users! Question. RE: Downloading MP3 Ringtones

To all the Epic 4G Users out there,

I am a new Epic 4G device owner on the forums here. My phone is the Evo 4G and the Epic 4G is for the wife. My question to you all is if it is possible to use full MP3 on this device as ringtones or not? I downloaded the same application I have on my Evo 4G from the Marketplace(i.e., Ringtone MP3) onto the Epic 4G last night but faced some challenges in relation to being able to use the MP3s as ringtones. It's just not letting me use them because apparently this phone uses some .ogg/.oog file formats as ringers.

Any and all help here is kindly appreciated.

Thanks!

Your best bet is to connect the phone to your computer and create the following file structure from the root:

media/audio/ringtones/

Put the mp3 that you wish to use as a ringtone in that last directory. It won't show up in your optional ringtones until you've dismounted USB.

For notifications, the structure is:

media/audio/notifications/

Also, as a sidenote, if you find that the phone simply will not play anything other than .ogg (which would be uberweird), the format is called "Ogg Vorbis" and is an open-source compression format for which there's a mutlitude of free converters... though I strongly doubt that there are any apps that'll do it.
