So done with Sprint.

So here is my story. I work at Bestbuy Mobile and have an employee plan that I have had for years ever since working at RadioShack. I wanted the Epic 4G really badly so the day it came out I went out and bought it at full retail price because I believed my sprint rep could get the phone on my account. Turns out he could not so when I got to work I decided to use SNAP and create an account for me to have for 30 days.

So on the 30th day I called to canceled but I called at 10 at night Pacific time so Sprint was closed. So I called the next day and they said I was too late to not be charged the early termination fee. Then he said if they can prove that I bought the phone for retail price that they may be able to cancel the account. So t...

You do realize creating your own account is not only able to get you fired, but charged criminally as well?

=)

You just shot yourself in the foot by admitting to all of this; go ahead and try yelling and waiving the war flag.

You violated not only company policy, but a few laws in there too. Good job; go for it and watch how it flies in court.

yeah you deff should have went a different route with this one man and deff first off to never say you did what you did. didn't you know you cant access your own, family or even friends account without immediate termination. like he said you shot yourself in the foot. CONGRADULATIONS!!! your lucky they didn't go too deep in it or else you wouldn't have been able to post that in your cell.

I am SO GLAD that I looked in here to see this.

I'm no salesman, but I'm pretty confident that creating your own account isn't to be done. Also, shouldn't you know the termination fight on canceling on the 31st day? I'm sure that you've heard it from all sides, commiserating while putting them on another carrier's service.
Rattle the saber, and take it to court. Remember to use this post of yours as Evidence of Sprint's Wrongdoing.

hes the one who did something illegal not sprint. maybe he should have tried to cancel before the 30th day well cause if you usually wait till the last minute you usually get burned.

He got charged an ETF because he (in violation of policy) created a normal consumer acct in his own name...and then like a dumb***, proceded to wait until literally the 11th hour to cancel it. Instead of, idk, cancelling the acct on, lets say day 29. He deserves everything he got.

Let's not even get into the fact that as a 3rd party employee he should know what he did was wrong, that his plan wasn't eligible for the EPIC to begin with, and that he only had 30 days to cancel.

Again he deserves it all.

It's idiots like him that make policies so draconian. He was abusing a system meant to entice customers so he could get his rocks off to a new toy for a month and then shove it back at sprint and tell them to scrap it.

He wasn't "dissatisfied" with his service, he wasn't taking the number elseware. he set up this account JUST so he could play with an epic and NEVER had an intention of keeping it.

That's 550+ that whatever store he got the phone would have to eat if he was able to return it, not to mention the potential lost revenue that selling that device on an ACTUAL account would bring.

He should've lost his job.

Why would anyone not be eligible for the Epic? Just curious ๐Ÿคจ

To maintain supply, carriers often won't allow employees access to new phones until demand subsides.

Oh, I have never experienced that. While I understand that they might want their customers to have the phone, it seems that it is easier to sell the phone if you put it in the hands of your sales force. Besides, I always want to know what my sales person is using. Gives me an idea if they believe in their product, or are just trying to make better commission.

Sprint gives one to an employee in the store know as an advocate so they have employees in every store with the phone to get hands on with the new devices. ๐Ÿ˜Ž

Is there a way to start a month to month contract if you purchase a phone at full retail? And if so, why didn't you do it that way?

That would be nice if they offered something like that, but they don't. If you start a new line, even with an existing device you still have to sign a 2 year contract. That will only work staying "month to month" after the 2 years is up and you buy a phone full retail.

3rd party employees get a contract but its not legally binding, we have to waive the etf if they cancel since they dont get discounted phones. But it has to be a proper 3rd party account. not a consumer account

If you wanted the Epic so badly, why did you wish to cancel your self-made account? And if you wanted to cancel, why did you wait unitl the last minute to do it?

You're boned.

I have no reason to really weigh in on this but to say you're an idiot....

1. for doing what you did
2. for coming on here thinking you're going to get sympathy....

As I sit here.... I am challenged mentally to think of anyone more stupid that I've met in my life....

Hmmmmm....

NOPE!

You're the most stupid!

Simple. Just cost Sprint new subscribers by steering them to other carriers until you quit Best Buy, or get fired, or whatever. I am sure Spring won't care if you steer your customers to other carriers, in fact I think it's a good idea, just don't get caught or you will get sued. Sprint will take you to court if they find out you are purposely steering customers away from them, so be careful.

And this is sprint's fault?

The 30 day program is for people actually INTENDING to keep the service, not for you to ruin a perfectly functional phone (since it can't be sold as new) because you want a new toy to play with.

And I don't think I've ever heard of anyone actually having the required documentation and meeting the requirements and then just getting told by the office of the president to shove off and deal with it...
Does the guy actually have this letter from the office of the president... or did it get eaten by the dog?
