Sanyo 5500 Battery life

I just got this phone and the battery life is terrible. I get about 24 hours of standby with little use (20 to 30 minutes of Talk). Is this normal or do I have a bad battery? If anyone out there with a 5500 is having the same problem, please let me know.

I got around 2 days of standby with some phone usage. You may acheive the manufacture's standby time specs if you don't use the phone at all while it is on standby, which is ridiculous. I have the extended battery now and I am happier with the phone's battery life - 3 to 4 days.

Forget about battery life if you are playing around with the camera, video-cam, or games features.

My main issues with the phone are the features or features-less for a high end phone 1) the ability to assign specific ring tones for specific incoming call numbers 2) the ability to easily created your own custom ringtones without having to pay Sprint and having it expire in 90 days - having standard MP3 format as ringtones would be nice, like some of the new...

You can assign ringers to individual people and I don't have to do 7 keystrokes to get it to silence all. I have very happy so far with everything on the phone.

Hello, yes I have the 5500 / 4500, my wife and I have the phone on the charger constantly.. It really sucks, my Nokia 3650 had a much better charge life and quicker re-charge capabilities also. The only thing I can suggest, go to your settings and put your SUB / Main LCD to the lowest timed setting possible, i.e. 5 Seconds or off. Hope you have a car charger because you will deffinitley need it with this unit. I'm going to get the High Capacity Battery for this, I believe it's around 60.00 usd.

Phone: 200.00
Case: 35.00
Car Charger 30.00
High Capacity Battery 60.00
Break out you master Card.

Let me know if you need further details, I will give the no spin fact on this handset and sprint service.

Take care 😁 😢

Go to the phone settings and turn off all the Animations and My Buddy. It will increase the battery life. I got the extended battery and it works well. Don't expect ANY color LCD phones of ANY BRAND to have any kind of battery life, especially if you are playing around with the camera functions.

And Sprint's coverage and cell availability is even better than Verizon, at least in CA. What good is network coverage when cell sites are constantly busy and over subscribed, just ask AT&T and Cingular users, I WAS one !!!

are you by any chance in a weak signal area--? The battery life on my 5400 is really bad when hunting
for a signal, in any case I got one of the bigger batteries from ebay, and really helped-

However, I believe that I did read on some other forum of some defective 4500's with poor battery life, and were replaced.

do you go in and out of service a lot? if you are in an aria where you phone is switching service that will really reduce batterly life. the phone it's self when serching for signal will onlylast about 30 mins...

in addition to that if you are in annalog you will only get 1.5 hours of talk time and 15 hours of stand by

but if you are serching for service that will do it

Try goint to roaming and make sure you have the option Sprint marked. That way it will only work in Sprint mode. I have the 5500 and have had no problems with the battery. I haven't charged it for about 4 days now and it has 4 bars still. Also, don't leave your phone on the charger all the time. Once it is charged take it off and don't put it on the charger again till it flashes battery low.. Any other questions feel free to contact me..

I get great battery life with everything turned on. One thing is don't plug your phone into the charger all the time. Plug it in till it is ready and then use it and when the "battery low" flashes plug it back in
