Opening an account after cancelling...

I currently am a long time (8 years) Verizon customer.

I have been having trouble in my area with poor service after 6 years and purchased two HTC Hero phones on April 17th for $200.00 a piece.

Since than, I have found out that, I can now get both phones for $200.00 and the HTC Evo is due on around the 2nd week of June.

I called Customer Service and told them, that I was not happy with the HTC Hero (Which is sort of true) and wanted to know if there was a way that I could just exchange my current phones for an EVO when it comes out in June.

They said that was not possible and I said that I would just cancel than.

So, here is the million dollar question..

If I cancel now..

Am I able to sign back up, once the HTC Evo comes...

If your past your 30 day trial period, you would have to pay a cancellation fee for each line, sell your phones, and then sign back up.

You cancel... Pay early termination fee... Deposit (most likely)... And then another $35/line activation fee...

When all is said and done... Itll probably be easier, and cost just as much, to just buy he phones at retail... Then eBay the heros.

Sorry, I should of been more clear...

I still have one week left on my 30 day FREE return.

I still have my Verizon phones, they just are flakey in my house.

I would return the phones and than just open up another account when the EVO comes out.

I would return, pay nothing... and just risk a $50/150 deposit when the time comes.

If you transfered your numbers from Verizon, you will lose them and have to get new numbers... If you still have your Verizon phones activated, then no worries...

I'd get out while the getting is hot... and relax until the Evo comes out.

If you got em in a store, take em back today, with everything in hand and just say your not happy.

Unless a Sprint Rep knows of someone who's been declined on a future account attempt after a 30-day-return... I honestly think the biggest risk is a deposit the next time you open the account.

The deposit he paid originally would be refunded, and cancelling within 30-days would not harm his credit in any way. The full charges of the service would be refunded if the account started after April 1st, which I'm assuming it was.

So, return the Hero's, and wait for the Evo to come out, if that suits you. The only thing I'd be worried about is possibly losing your numbers, and any issues you may have bouncing back and forth between Verizon and Sprint. As long as everything is done within 30-days both times around, it should be fine; I'm not %100 sure of Verizon's policies on this sort of thing.

I am still in my 30 days...

didn't put no money down...

Because of the clerks goof up, I didn't even pay for the phones (The cost was put on my account)

I NEVER port my numbers, until I am sure, that I am going to keep the phones.

So I will just return them and hold out for the EVO...

That phone is going to be so much better than the HERO...

Especially since Sprint just changed the upgrade to 2.1 again..
