Take it to the Sprint corporate store and see what they can do for you. You might be able to get a new phone without filing a claim.

Thats wrong also, a Corp store is not going to take back something with water damage. They would be taking a huge loss replacing it with a new device, so dont give him wrong info please. Stores do not replace for physical damage, cracked screens or housing, and especially water damage.

Kayslay is right. Its not the stores fault they dropped their phone in water or whatever it was.

Let me reiterate what I previously posted. Go to the Sprint corporate store and see what they can do. Do not tell them that it was water damaged, and say to them that it stopped working. Worst case scenario, they'll say no. I've seen people get their phones replaced with missing buttons (standby button on palm pre, with no charging port cover), cracked screens (blackberries), even missing a trackball.
So it doesn't hurt to try, and is a lot less painless than filing a claim. This is for the consumer, not for Sprint, so my information was not misleading.

That's all well and good, just, when they open it up and confirm the liquid damage, don't act like you didn't know. . . ๐Ÿ™‚

Agreed, the only stipulation with TEP that I was aware of is that you can't claim a pre-existing issue. I've known customers to activate a phone, add TEP, and call back the very next day because it was stolen, and they do get their claims done too... ๐Ÿ˜Ž

No, you won't have a problem filing a claim after just a week, you are covered under TEP from the time that you sign up for it, so as long as this happened after you had TEP on your account, you'll not have a problem

oh really. Well could you please enlighten us then as to why we're wrong?

The terms of TEP state that it's active from the time it's put on your account, and the only limiting factor is that you can only have three approved claims within a calender year.

I would think if he would have problems trying to file a claim that it could cause some legal problems. He has a feature added on his account that he is currently paying for, but he cannot use it for the first 30 days he is paying for it? That's like adding data to your plan, and having to pay for it the first month without being able to use it.

Oh, and not to mention the fact that I have seen countless times in ensemble a user who had upgraded their phone or added a new line and...

A claim can be filed 24 hours after coverage is added to the subscription.
A claim filed immediately after adding coverage may prompt a more rigorous claim review process.
A claim cannot be filed for a phone that was lost, stolen, or physically damaged prior to adding TEP coverage.
For example: Customer lost phone on 4/15/09. Customer calls in on 5/2/09 during open enrollment to add TEP. Customer submits a claim on 5/3/09 for the lost phone รƒยขรขโ€šยฌโ€œ claim will be denied.
Hint: Use car insurance analogy - you cannot get a car fixed for accident that happened prior to your car insurance coverage being effective.
Claims must be filed within 60 days after the loss while covered by TEP.
