There are at least two V60-based models in the pipeline that Motorola is gearing for Sprint. One is a basic model, while another is a higher-end (full PCS Vision) model. One of the models is tentatively numbered "v68".

But if and when Sprint approves and accepts them is another matter entirely... So it's being worked on, but no guarantees.

As for SIM cards, they would technically be R-UIM since that is the equivalent technology for CDMA. But I am not aware of any plans for Sprint to adopt R-UIM technology, so no.

sprint has gone trew quite a bit of house cleaning in there phones lately cleaning out some of the more high matnance brands. so there are no plans for an lg any time soon and it will be a long time before audiovx is alowed to show it's face in teh stores again uless it has "toshiba" to cover it up which i think is a little wierd because the 9155 has been perhaps one of the most reliable phones sprint has ever sold.

about modarola though dam they used to have the best phones the old startecs were amazeing i see an unbelieveable amout of them still out there. i was helping out a motarola develper the otehr day and i asked him about when we would see some in teh store he told me not any time soon.

and in talking with other carriers motor...

Motorola CDMA phones have a bit of a problem because they do not use the Qualcomm chipset. This may sound a bit trivial, but it causes the phones to behave erratically. (just ask the Verizon customers who own V-120's and T-720's) This is one reason why Sprint has not chosen them. The other manufacturer that doesn't use Qualcomm chips is Nokia. Both of these manufacturers only have token CDMA handsets.
As for the SIM card, that is a GSM exclusive. The trade off for going to GSM would be to cut your coverage area literally in half, increase ed network noise, increased dropped calls and fast busy signals. Not worth the trade.

SPCSVZWJeff...ahh...so you're a sprint boy... explains why you hate GSM so much.... Now...going to GSM from sprint would certainly not cut your coverage in half. GSM does not cover quite the physical area that CDMA covers (though more than half), but it covers WAY more than sprint's network does. Not to in any way talk down sprint...they do have a good network in those areas that they cover.

You would be right, if we were talking about three years ago.

But these days, Motorola uses Qualcomm chipsets (ever since 1xRTT - Motorola never made their own 1xRTT chipset.) For example, the T720 and v120x/e both use Qualcomm chips, plus every Moto CDMA phone since.

And Nokia went back to the drawing board with their chipset around the same time. They re-emerged with a chipset that, (by most accounts,) is actually superior to Qualcomm's. Listen to people who own a Nokia 3588i, and you'll understand - it gets better reception than most Sanyos - which are widely regarded as the best Qualcomm implementations out there.

None of the Motorola phones for verizon have the CDMA by qualcomm label so if they are using qualcomm chipsets they are not labeling the phones as such. As a dealer we have more customer issues with the motorola phones and a select few models of Samsung phones. (unfortunately including the VGA1000) The Sanyos have the fewest issues by far. As for the Nokia 3588 and 3589 you are correct they are much better than the old Nokias. Although as a whole our store sells more Sprint than Verizon phones and we have way fewer customer issues with the Sprint phones than the Verizon phones so hats off to the Sprint quality control folks.
