Why doesn't Sprint support MMS?

So, in another thread I was discussing why
Sprint makes you access your picturemail online. I know it's because Sprint doesn't have native MMS, but why not?

Actually, Sprint does do MMS on the iDEN side. But yeah, no MMS on the PCS side. The reasons behind this are as follows:

#1. When Sprint began doing picture mail, most of their color screen capable handsets were very small and low resolution. By having the pictures online, the customer could easily access his pictures online from a PC and blow up the images with greater clarity.

#2. Keep in mind too that data apps were also very unreliable a few years back. By sending an SMS text to access the pictures online, it allowed a backup i...

True. That's part of the reason they have opted for the new plans.

5 dollar picture mail plan takes care of the data usage. If it dosent, apply the credit. Rinse repeat. But I agree the new plans are the sheeeeet. They are much better customer oriented plans.
