Q4 Adds

So "lame duck" Sprint added 742K subscribers in Q4. It won't be as impressive as the others but considering what everyone was expecting, I'll take it. They also had a slight down tick in churn. I think 2007 is going to be a good year if they get their rate plans in order.

I predicted 1 mill well I wasn't far off. And whats so funny Corpsman up? That is a good number just coming out of a larger merger.

A good number for Cingular was 1.8 million, and that was coming out of a literally larger merger.

Yeah they both were GSM. I bet if one was CDMA they wouldn't of done so good.

Cingular had 11 separate networks to integrate...which to me seems a hell of a lot more difficult than transitioning a customer base from one technology onto another.

1 AMPS
2 TDMA
2 GSM
2 EDGE/GPRS
2 WCDMA/HSDPA (while simultaneously deploying them)
2 E911

Now tell me who should have had more headaches and growing pains...

AMPS was back in the 80's they acquired when they bought out people and were just building their digital network. TDMA and GSM or very similar. As GSM is a TDMA technology! Edge/grprs is and will always be separate along with WCDMA/HSDPA they will never integrate them as they cant! Just like sprint with Wimax. AMPS was the original network along with TDMA you point is not taken. CDMA and IDEN are entirely two different networks and technology!

Okay, you're not comprehending.

Of course it's impossible to integrate AMPS, TDMA, GSM, GPRS/EDGE, WCDMA/HSDPA, and E911 all into one network. That's not what I was pointing out.

What I was saying, however, was that after Cingular acquired an entirely separate company they did indeed have to integrate the two TDMA (+ AMPS) networks together, the two GSM together, the two GPRS/EDGE together, the two WCDMA/HSDPA together, and the two E911 together.

Get the idea? That's a lot of difficult work, no matter how you look at it.

no your not comprehending. They didn't intergate amps with anything. NOt GSM or TDMA phone has AMPS! Ok next. TDMA was not intergrated but upgraded to GSM. Next the two networks of ATT and Cingular were the same all it was to intergrate was some software which I believe cingular accomplished this in under 6 months. CDMA and IDEN WILL NEVER let me say again NEVER be intergrated they cant. All they can do is support them both. That is two entirely different networks they have to maintain. I think they knew the reason to do this but I don't really know. But thats not the point of this thread.

Now do you get the idea?

Honestly I think its funny how you never have anything negative to say about sprint! You fight tooth and nail with anyone says anything negative about them, I just find it funny.

its called the truth. I have plenty of negative experiences with sprint! Bad CS sometimes, not happy with the way service performed in a area I traveled to. Crappy phone selection. I could go on and on. But you know what all my friends with all the other carriers yup have the same issues with them. Its not fighting or sticking up for SPRINT. It is disputing countless idiotic post after post of stupidness.

Fair enough man thats honest.. 🙂 I personally feel verizon is the best and thats only do to my personal experience with them. I too have tried every carrier so to me verizon's reliable network rings true but I know there not for everyone, or work perfect everywhere. Many of us need to be more realistic when comparing carriers.

They are not migrating anyone. If they were you would not be able to sign up for nextel service which in fact you can. They are expanding nextels IDEN service allot!!

My Point is if sprint bought a CDMA provider then it would have been done already!! Say they buy alltel. You will see a rapid integration.

Let me go back Yes tdma and analog are close. There is some TDMA technoligy in some AMPS systems. But can you buy a TDMA phone from cingular? I don't think so!

There were and still are millions of active TDMA users on the network. Just because it was no longer available to sign up for does not mean they didn't have to maintain the network.

Get it?

I didn't say that did I? I said you cant sign up anymore!! That means they are phasing it out unlike nextel! but its the same technology. They merge easily.

Thats the "I use thier brochure to wipe my a$$" to you. Sprint didnt do to hot in numbers, big woop. Every company has thier down times and every company has thier up times, i do give props to Cingular though for the numbers they are producing they should be proud, but what you all dont realize is that soon Sprint will be on top, and they will have their shot. It's bound to happen, with patience at least. Im willing to wait, been with sprint since 2002 not going anywhere else, adding my own business phone on amp'd thats about it 120 a month for unlimited minutes :-/
