Only thing better then that is taking it to the store to have a rep tell you it will take hours to do despite the fact it take only minutes.

Let me give you a bit of backstory. When I bought the phone the firmware and prl where extremely out of date.
When I inquired of the service rep in the store, they informed me that they were current, to which I replied, "You might wanna double check that considering I know for a fact that they are out of date. Are you just telling me what I want to hear or do you actually know?" The service rep then admitted, she had no idea.
After speaking to the "technician" I was told that the phone was indeed out of date and that I would need to leave my phone there for the day and I could come pick it up in the morning. I inquired why it would take so long and was

You are arguing that Sprint charges a nominal fee for data usage (assuming you don't have a data plan) to do an OTA firmware update, a service that NO OTHER CARRIER OFFERS!
C'mon guys, seriously.
If you are a cheap a$$ (which I assume you are from your posts) then take your phone to a service center and get the update for free, yes you have to wait, and yes you spend more in gas driving there than the data charges (so since your a cheap a$$ it makes more sense to eat the data charge, unless you drive a Prius)!
Or, go with another carrier that does not give you the option for OTA updates and FORCES you to spend the time and money to take your phone in, and STFU!

Yes, Sprint offers OTA updates that charge data usage fees should you not have a data plan.
Yes, Sprint will allow you to drop your phone of to be flashed with a new version of firmware (though the time you have to leave your phone there can and may be substantial).
Yet, no one acknowledges the fact that if there are no charges for the update at the 'shop' then there should there be no charges at home?
Think about it instead of formulating a knee-jerk reply.
Isn't it actually more expensive for Sprint reps to have to take time out of whatever they are doing to update phones when the consumer can do it themselves?
