I want to say that for all those who say sprint doesn't work there I got a few words for you! I left I95 in NC onto US 13 and there is nothing there at all. But my phone worked the whole way! My buddies verizon phone went extended network 5 miles off the interstate. Not saying sprints better just they do work off the interstate!

Congrats, I ditched Sprint due to the lies about *no charge ever for roaming*, it was a lie. I called about it, why am I being charged when I was told no roaming, and all commercials say, no roaming. The response was, well its only in certain areas. So when my Verizon phone says extended network, it still works, and I'm not charged any extra fees.

thats BS. I have roamed all over with the military. And never been charges. I even have a clause that half need to be on sprint and I went over that once when I had training were there was no sprint or verizon or cingular for that matter. I don't know who I was roaming on but sprint never said anything about it!

I can assure you the No roaming plan was not here, i was charged and was told its not available in all areas. I do not pay roaming at all now with another carrier. Sprint said even though the plan said no roaming, it was not in all markets. They also said if I paid like $ 10.00 per month extra, I would not be billed for roaming since we were not in the "no roaming area" I declined the offer. I was a customer for about 5 years, before this plan was offered, when my phone read roaming, I didn't use it. Then all the commercials, ads etc stating no roaming, I switched to the new plan. I fould out quickly it was not 100 percent true. One thing I hate, don't flood the country with ads every 5 minutes stating, just pick up the phone and tal...

I can't say for sure as I don't know what plan your on but I am on a old plan from 2003 with the 5.00 for roaming and have been everywere with NO roaming charges. So either you got a rep that didn't know what they were doing or its BS!

You were in an affiliate area which is run by a company separate from Sprint. They company made a deal with Sprint to build the network and use its name. The affiliate areas don't always have the same plans or promotions that actual Sprint markets do. You should be mad at the affiliate that ran your market since they didn't want to go along with Sprint. Advice for others that have to pay for roaming: If you change your number to a corporate market you can get the free roaming. That is the only option to not pay extra for it if you live in one of those areas.

Oh ok I see. Yes when I lived in SC beofre sprint bought the affiliate I didn't get free roaming. I could pay 10.00 for 100 min of it. But I was well aware of it. So should of the original poster!

Hell ya military, My dad is retired 28 years SGM 😛 I done my fair share of traveling too. Sprint was the only carrier who had reception on the backside of Fort. Benning. No GSM network worked out there, Verizon/Alltel droppped calls like mad. Sprint is great for the Military Branch.

You were most likely in an affiliate market which doesn't have to offer the same promotions. Depending on when this was the affiliate may have been bought since then. Alamosa was one of the biggest affiliates bought which covered large areas of KS, MO, NC among others. I have roamed 3000 min one month with about 100 on the sprint network and not a word. The next few months had similar usage maybe a few less roaming but not much on the sprint network and nothing. Rural coverage with the sprint network and roaming is unbeatable by the other carriers. One example is almost all of KS being covered by Sprint now.
