Question for a rep

I was just reading that if you have a g/f vision on your old plan and switch to a evdo phone they are suppsoe to take that away and you now have to pay for power vision and text. Is there a way to avoid this?

Well, theortetically you can keep the plan, if the Customer care rep knows what he/she is doing, but you would be using vision at regular speeds (1xRtt), and any Power Vision service would be unavailable (i.e., Music Store, On Demand), so i would suggest that you think about it carefully, it might be a better choice to actually change to a power vision plan and get all the features, Plus you get to try it the first month free, with all the high-speed services available.

yeah but it would be 30 per phone. I don't think its worth 60 a month. For vision and text.

30 dollars for a power vision plan? i think not. the basic power vision, which includes unlimited data is only $15.00 a month, the plus pack, which inludes picture and video mail, Plus the multimedia channel Sprint TV (channel 1), is only $20, and the ultimate pack (which is the same as the plus pack, but instead of channel 1 you get channel 50, a channel with more programs and live show) is $25. and then again, its only if you actually decide to chnage to the powervision plan, otherwise you could keep the grandfather plan, which i assume includes unlimited data, but with regular vision speeds, and unlimited texting (only on plans added before 2004). feel free to ask if you need more info =D

exactly, thats is why you should think very carefully whether you want the neat new services, or keep the benefits from an older plan, unfortunately, you win some, you lose some.

you are so wrong.

i hate to be that blunt, but the phone does not know what your plan is.

you will still be able to use all powervision services that you would with a powervision plan.

but you are correct in that, if the rep you get knows how, and is willing to, you can keep your gf vision plan.

if you got me, and were nice, i would sneak it thru for you.

actually your txt messages are send over short mail which is included on the old vision. the new EVDO network goes through SMS which is different. When adding the powervision to the phone, reps need to add the EVDO code to the plan to be used and charged as EVDO. there is no way to keep an IP plan on the EVDO phone. you WILL loose the g/f plan. be careful and chose wisely. Otherwise you will be billed for data usage. i've seen this on customers bills. reps who say they can keep it on are not lying. but it will bill you for .0003 center per kb.

Well We started with sprint on a old samsung non color phone. Which I don't think shortmail was around in 2001. When I got back from Iraq in May of 2003 we went to 2 Sanyo 8100's with a new share plan which is 2000 anytime min, unlimited m2m, unlimited n/w, unlimited vision with pictures, unlimited text messages, unlimited web messages, and 5.00 credit per phone a month to download ringers ect. I currently have a Sanyo M1 and my wifes fusic is on the way.

i see now. Are you paying any extra a month for the vision, or is it already included with the plan? if it is, and your bills show the vision plan to be 0 charge, it already includes unlimited 2 way SMS, which is the current messaging standard, Shortmail was free too because it did not count as SMS, but used web services to work.

are you sure about what you are saying? do you actually have an EVDO phone with a grandfathered vision plan? i get customers all the time asking for the same thing. there is actually a plan identificator code used in the system to determine wether you have a power vision or regular vision phone, that code is automatically added to the subscription everytime an ESn swap is made from a 3G phone (non-EVDO) to an EVDO handset. with that identificator, it is physically impossible to keep an older vision plan in the account. only reps with the correct knowledge can actually make the chnage without actually adding that code, and the big PLUS; that code identificator is also used for powervision services, like on Demand and the sprint music store (i...

my M1 still has my old vision plan. But the girl that changed it the other day had to get a supervisor to do it. I didn't know I wasn't suppose to be able to keep it until today. When she said I lost my vision I was like no way are you serious.

i know how that feels. Although i'm a care rep myself i can't believe all the hardship and difficulties the customers need to go through just for a simple phone swap. 😢

just to make sure, the previous post in which I rant about the identifier codes was meant for mobile_trojan, i certainly do not wish to have such a good customer as you lose his faith in Sprint.

yeah I kind of got a little short when she said sorry you lost the vision services and I will have to pay now. And she can't put it back. I was like no no nooooo. I think you should have said that before I lost it! She apologized and talked with a supervisor and they put it back on!
