Sprint Mobile Email

Has anyone used the new Sprint Mobile Email application and had any success. Any time I try to set up an email address using the same settings in Outlook or AIM mail all I get is an error message reading "Error S7122: Mail server is not responding. Please try again later."

I have erased and re-downloaded the application and am still getting the same error. Just wondering if others are having the same problems or if I am just a moron. Thanks for the help.

OK, here we go. i would like to start this post by making it known that i am an advanced tech support rep, with admin rights to the mobile email system.

i had a customer a few days ago with the same error.

in this case, it was a comcast email address that she wanted to use.

she was able to receive, as she was able to correctly assign the incoming server information from her comcast acct.

it sounds like you also may have gotten this far.

her problem was sending. she would always get the same error you did, and here is why.

MOST OF THE TIME, when you are sending mail thru an smtp server on a sprint mobile device, you are required to setup the outgoing authentication settings with your sprint un\pw. this is best explain...

Yesterday i got a Sanyo 8400 and it works great. You can set up both the outgoing and incoming mail servers. I could do that on the A920 and A900 but got that error when trying to save the settings and test the connection. No idea why all of a sudden it started working. I don't have the 920 any more but when I get a chance I will try it on the A900. It even got the error on the aim and yahoo which only require a userid and password.

who knows. I like it so far now that it works.

both Yahoo & AOL are web-based e-mails. neither use POP or SMPT servers (unless you pay for Yahoo Plus/Premium/whatever-its-called). i dont know 100% about AOL (since i dont use it) but i would imagine it has an option for you to pay extra and gain access to thier POP & SMTP servers.

true, it is IMAP, and i think users are given access for free.

also, i have not used this program on a sammy yet, my only experience was with the katana.

i will be quite amused if the lack of outgoing settings is only on the katana.

like i said, the katana did not.

this nis a serious flaw, IMO.

doubtful. the A900 has been plagued with problems since its launch.
it was highly anticipated because of its slew of badass features, but it failed to acheive the level of functionality necessary for the phone to live up to its expectations. even after multiple s/w-updates, its still problematic.

it was a great idea, nothing more.

like 'New Coke'...
