So after reading all about the no-charge ETF posts from about a month ago I gave it shot. This was not because I wanted to switch but because I travel on weekends to the white mountains, NH and only Verizon, cing gets service there and needed a phone that worked during the weekends. Well I called twice to confirm they would “WAIVE” this fee as I wanted to know if I qualified due to the text increase and twice they told me YES. Before I ported I had them make sure to note this on my account because it sounded to good to be true. Today I get a call saying I owe them the $150!! WTF, they say they have no note of it on the account but only that I was notified there would be a ETF for porting and that just got me straight-up fired up. I was ...

Sprint put in place a way to grandfather in customers so that they were able keep the $.10 per text message and at that point stopped allowing customers to cancel free of charge. What you should do next time is to have the customer service rep cancel your contract while on the phone but leave the account active until you port. Since this is hind-site and can't help you now my best advice is to call customer service and ask for the retention department. They are basically your last hope since they are the final say in these situations. Asking for a supervisor is pointless since they have no reason to bargain with you since you have already left. You should be able to find a direct number on pcsintel.com. You can also try writing a lette...

I don't get why you wanted to leave anyway. You stated you needed a phone that worked on the weekend. VZW was the only one that worked. Well sprint and verizon have a roaming agreement so wouldn't you be able to roam while you traveled?

Oh and also you should pay as your reason had nothing to do with text messages. I am sorry but you were trying to get around a contract you signed in good faith.

sprint.....verizon.....they both use the same cdma. sprint roams on verizon and vice versa. so there is no reason to leave sprint. now i understand about the customer service. but being a corporate sprint customer care agent i dont have to worry about calling in to get anything done......haha, but ya u should be charged the $150 etf for claiming that due to the sms changes u should be able to cancel free of charge... have fun getting the etf waived!
