Verizon is sooo much better!

You Sprint people make me laugh... Here's the real EVDO/network facts: Verizon Wireless has the best EVDO network period. When Verizon Wireless decides to make a metro EVDO they cover the city, the burbs, and even rural areas around it. Sprint on the other hand only makes little piss puddles in metro areas and leaves the surrounding areas on their older network. Yes, as of now Sprint has more EVDO markets, but hello... have you looked at the future EVDO coverage map for Verizon Wireless??? It's going to kick the **** out of Sprint. Oh, and by the way, don't even go there with the 800Mhz VS 1900Mhz thing... 800 is far better because of one thing, COVERAGE. Why do companies put up cell towers? To provide COVERAGE. 800 penetrates into buildings...

Ha ha! Good question. Sorry for not including that in the post. Well actually you do have a point... NOT! To tell you the truth EVDO won't matter here in a couple of months. Yeah, it's already old news. I have a word for you that's going to be on every cell phone company ad in the future. It's MediaFlo. MediaFlo is basically a SprintTV ass kicker. Want to know why? It's because MediaFlo is like cable TV, with a huge selection of streaming live channels and music channels. Still amazed? Here's the grand finale... Verizon Wireless is the first company signed up for it. Imagine that! My point proved, yours put to shame.

One thing is that they signed up first. Now, deploying it first is another. Sprint will bring this first and you can bet on that! 😎

I give up. You Sprint people just keep picking at every little detail to try to make your company look better. Verizon Wireless and Sprint are going to be partners in the whole MediaFlo thing, so nobody really knows who gets it first or whatever. But here's my closing argument. At the least Sprint's voice network, well, SUCKS! As soon as Sprint customers get out of the city they use Verizon Wireless's towers. What kind of network is that? That's what I thought.

I'll put it here too. Sprint will most likely be a Mediaflo launch partner. Where's the big Sprint TV killer again?

LOL. Sprint is signed up for it but Verizon Wireless gets it first. It's not that big of a deal to me because nobody can argue that sprint has a better voice network than Verizon. Has anyone looked at the coverage maps? Sprint has to roam off of Verizon's towers as soon as you get outside the city limits. That's not a network, that's just little blankets for citys, nothing else.

I dont want to get involved in this discussion, but I just looked at a coverage map and it appears that OK is almost blanketed, including Tulsa, am I missing something?

yeah, that 'blanket' is Verizons "Extended Coverage"... thier sneaky little word for 'roaming'. none of that coverage is VZW's. they have no coverage in the Tulsa or OKC areas. any VZW customers that use thier phones anywhere near those 2 (rather major) cities would be roaming the entire time.
VZW is a great company. but they are not perfect. no mobile company is. some are better than others in certain areas. i personally have Cricket because (even though i work for Sprint), i cannot afford the cost of a limited minute plan with the possiblitiy of overage. plus, i dnt personally use data services at all. i use voice and SMS. thats it. since i hardly ever leave my home town, Cricket works just fine for me. but if you wanted to compare Cri...

Gotcha, one question, regardless if Company A is roaming off Company B's towers, as long as the customer isnt charged roaming fees, what is the big deal?

If the phone is in "extended network" the customer isnt charged anything, I personally think that its pretty much "splitting hairs" arguing who has more coverage based on companies actual networks, every company has licensing agreements with other companys.

i understand this. the difference is that only Voice services are gauranteed while roaming. So, if a VZW customer was in Tulsa, they couldnt use thier data services, since they are roaming, and therefor not connected to thier own network.
and you are 100% right. it really doesnt matter who has more of thier own network (for voice). quality over quantity, every time.
my point was really that VZWguy is an immature troublemaker.

Well, wouldn't it matter to the people who live in Tulsa who can't get a Verizon phone/plan/service since Verizon doesn't sell service there? I think to them, it wouldn't matter how good Verizon is in the rest of the country.

Not that I'm defending the true Satan, SprintPCS, just m...

How rude! Sorry that I'm not welcome in YOUR forum. But I can argue with your coverage issues... Verizon Wireless might want to or has tried to improve coverage in your area but have not been allowed to. The wonderful FCC and local governments make it hard for cell phone companies to expand and improve coverage. If a county puts a limit on how many towers in the limits, then once that limit is reached no more towers are allowed. Possibly those two citys have local government issues that are keeping Verizon and possibly other companies from doing their thing. Just a thought RCR. I didn't realize that I was "annoying as hell".

Of course you realize this. Otherwise you wouldn't keep coming here and making inflammatory comments. But regardless, your arguments are illogical. How can you use the fact that Sprint roams on another network as one of the bases for your claim that "they suck" but make excuses for Verizon doing the exact same thing?

Make no mistake, I use neither Verizon nor Sprint (God help me, I hope I never have to use CDMA again) but in my OPINION, Sprint has a much better product. Their customer care just needs a whole lot of help.

They all have their goods and bads. It kills me grown people can act like kids. Sprint by the end of 2007 will have EVDO REV A on their entire network. And start deploying wimax. Yes they are not in the rural areas but I have coverage no matter were I go. I don't care if I roam off VZW or alltell or any other provider as long as I can make calls. Sprintt has worked for me jsut fine and are cheaper. You defend a company like its your kid. I don't even defend the military from people that talk bad about it and we are defending your freedom like you all defend a wireless company. It is a matter of what your looking for and were you live. All 5 top carriers have to offer things the others don't. So go with what works.

Wombough, you rock! That was beautiful and true. We all need to take a week off this cell phone craze and let our computers rest. I like the theory "if it ain't broke don't fix it". I think that that applies to cell phone companies in a way because if you have a company that you like and that gives you what you want then why change it or challenge it? Every place is different with coverage and all that other stuff. I guess the best thing to do is pick the best for you and tell everyone to shut up. 😲

Ok this is not to argue. But if you really want Data and you use alot then Verizon is not for you. They admit that unlimited is not unlimited. They don't want you to do anything but browsing and email. That is thier business standpoint. They are number 2 still so if may work for them. Sprint is download what you want. Stream videos movies music. Will it last who knows. Maybe they have the spectrum since they are all 1900 that verizon doesn't have with 50% 1900 yet. They all take a stand on what direction they want to go and its like rolling dice. Who wants what most. As far as vice coverage it comes down to who has the best roaming agrements. Verizon does have a nice word for roaming which is extended network. But bottom line its not a...

How do you figure VZW is better than Sprint, when VZW uses some of Sprints fiber ops? Sprint has batter plans, OS, data cards, software, and no restrictions on their service. With VZW, consumers are restricted on URLs. When Sprint launches their 4th gen, it doesn't matter about 800 or 1900, it's going to be full blown digital. Stick with your lame V-Cast. Sprint offers more.
