Quick Question for Sprint rep

I remember from back when I sold sprint, that if you do an ESN change it changes your upgrade eligibility date regardless of whether you bought a phone at full retail, upgrade, ebay, or whatever...

Did they ever change that? I signed up in April, so if they changed it before then, then thats good. I'm going camping this weekend and I wanted to use a phone with a battery that lasts longer than the 15 minutes of battery life I get on the Blade.

they have not changed it, but there is a change that should take effect in sept, i believe. it was supposed to be like $150 every 2 years no matter what, so much better. but ill have to look into it to see if it is actually going to change.

I heard they were going to change to where it goes by the last time you got a deal on a phone.

I don't know when its supposed to change exactly, I'm guessing pretty soon since I keep hearing more and more about it.

As of right now, yes, it is still the same.

I did an ESN swap in May because my phone would not survive the tour i did this summer, so I bought a friends sanyo 7400 to do the trick and i came back after four months and they told me that because i did the ESN swap that ANOTHER year has been added to my 75 dollar rebate and ANOTHER 2 to my full 150. I know that if i threw a fit i would get my way, but i see where they are coming from, even though it is complete crap, because they were being difficult for me to do an insurance claim on my previous phone...

As it stands it is based on how long you had the phone active on your account. So in that respect is hasn't changed.

They did to the $75 off new phone if you had it more than a year and $150 off if more than 2 years.

It may change later on, but we must remember they did have fraud issues in the past, being the easiest carrier to be signed into. Possible reason why they intially didn't have much of an upgrade program. *shrugs*

i know someone who works for Sprint and i was told that they now have made improvements with their rebate program. The eligibility for the $75 or $150 discount towards a new phone would depend on when you last have taken advantage of the program. 😉 😉 😉

ei, im not a sprint rep but i guess i can still answer... personally i dont focus more on upgrade programs because after all what we are paying these companies is the network or the service and not the handset. they only give free handset to get new customers or as a marketing strat, but they are not a phone manufacturer... we are paying them for the service. 🤤
