Beware of Sprint's "no roaming" policy.
I was subscribed to Sprint's 'Fair and Flexible' plan and guaranteed by the factory store to have zero roaming charges ever.
Plug in 48768 and see what happens. Sprint says they have service in that area....you know, "Fair and Flexible", "No roaming" etc.
They'll even send you the phones of your choice as long as it's a 2300 or 225 🤣 . Problem is, they didn't work without roaming even though they said it should. After calling Sprint they said to ignore the roaming warning. I did and racked up a $300+ roaming charge and many hours of frustration with their "customer no-service" and tech id...

You need to do a little homework on this... all carrier's who have a roaming agreement with other carriers have this in fine print on their brochures (regarding the %50 usage on network). Verizon, US Cellular, Sprint, etc...
Obviously, you were billed incorrectly for roaming when it is included. What SHOULD have happened was customer service contacting you and explaining the situation, probably ending in them letting you out of your agreement.
Of course, that was not the case.

It was a Sprint Store, not 'Joe's Pizzeria and cell phone shop'. Their reps told me I'd never have to worry about roaming charges.

As far as Verizon's Amercia's Choice Map goes it's the same deal as Sprint with a different name.
Cingular works the same. If you roam on GSM towers other than those of Cingular a bunch they'll cut you too.

It is Sprint's fault for saying you have coverage. It isn't their fault that you didn't believe that they would kick you off if you used more than 50% roaming.

magellan, believe what you will. Just don't say we didn't warn you. Carriers are providing a service to make a profit. You need to make sure you know what fees you get for using that service. It's that simple. That's why they have legal agreements.
"With unlimited roaming plans, Sprint may terminate service if a majority of minutes in a given month are used while roaming off of the Sprint PCS Network."
I called Sprint after the store assured me "no roaming charges" and they verified that policy.
I called Verizon and asked if their policy is similar to Sprint. They said absolutely no limit inside my calling plan area and minutes, which is the Extended Network.
Sorry, until you can show me otherwise, they are NOT all the same.
You're "roaming" whenever you make or receive a call using a transmission site outside your home rate and coverage area, or using another company's transmission site. Your wireless phone may sometimes connect to and roam on another company's network even when you're within your home rate and coverage area or local calling area. There may be extra charges (including charges for long distance, tolls, or calls that don't connect) and higher rates for roaming calls, depending on your calling plan.
This is off the Verizon website under customer agreement.
Roaming charges only apply when connecting to another company's network. As long as my phone says "Verizon Wireless" or "Extended Network", I won't be charged roaming.
Give it up. I have already called Verizon about this issue. Unlike Sprint, there is no secret hidden roaming charges or limitations on talk time inside my calling plan coverage area.
That is the advantage of going with a cell carrier with such large purchasing power and influence. I'm only getting this point across in case there are people that live in the Sprint PCS network but will be travelling outside it quite often. You are screwed.

You will have to ask for one - they never provided me with one when I ordered my phone.
