Best basic Sprint phone?

Scotch

My wife has to get a Sprint phone for her job; well, her new job is buying her a Sprint phone. Anyway, she just wants a phone, nothing special. The mains things are: reliability, and reception strength (she travels in rural areas quite a bit). I'm kinda leaning toward Sanyo or Nokia - is that about right? And what models?

She's used to navigating Nokia, but she can learn a different make if the phone is better.

Thanks in advance,
~S~

Anything Sanyo. But if ya want a few more features the Samsung 840 is 29.99 and has a camera.

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO, if you travel at all the A840 will do you no good. Let me tell you a little story. My Mother in-law has the 2300 and my Brother in-law has the A840. Hers works everywhere and his has problems with reception a lot. If you main concern is reception I would recommend the Sanyo 2300 or the Nokia 3155. If you want the Multi-Media stuff the Sanyo 8300 is a nice phone, but it is quite a bit more expensive.

Thanks, all! It looks like the 2300 might be the one. Really, all she wants/needs is a phone to talk on. She doesn't even really use SMS, fercrissakes. ;)

Does anyone else have more input on the Nokia 3155? I'll bet she'll feel more comfortable with that one because she's used to Nokia menus, particularly the old ones, and that one looks like an older design. If there is any particular reason not to go with that model, it might be a better choice for her than the 2300.

Thanks again; your input is highly valued.

I have no faith in nokia, every one i've seen is junk. however i love sanyo. so anything through them should do very well. if she doesn't need internet/outside caller ID go witht the 200. but the outside caller ID may be worth the extra 30 for ya. it would be for me.

Sanyo 2300, 200, or Samsung A840.

If you want good battery life, go with the Sanyo RL-4930...5.5 hours talk time. It's a candybar design with rubber edging.

Despite what others may say, I have never heard anything bad about the 840's reception. I have had long lines of angry customers regarding the LG 225 though. I HATE that phone, yet no matter how much I tell people, they still get it. 🙄

Overall, Sanyo has always had just a bit better signal than most Samsungs. If you want to have maximum signal retention, but a camera as well, then go with the Sanyo 8300.

But truthfully the 2300 should be perfect for you.

I currenty have a sanyo 8300 and it is a great phone. The sanyo 2300 is a very good basic phone with no camera. The Sanyo 200 is not bad either but it does not have an external caller ID.

Good luck with your new phone.

We've had very very good luck with the LG. But our tech here switched to the 840 because of th reception. it's supposed to be fantastic.
