I have a question. I was at a Sprint store in my area and a rep told me that if I added a line to my account and swapped the phone i just added to the number i had before adding a line, that I could cnacel service within 30 days and be charged just for my usage and no ETF. Is this true??

if your slick enough. most of the times when you cancel a contract loyalty reps make you return the phone too since you got it at a discounted price. NO LIE.

i had it happen to me before: a man walked in my store stating his sons phone was broken and had no insurance, and 7 months before eligable to upgrade. he said another rep at another store told him she could only give him 25% off a phone at full retail price. since i'm 3rd party i cant even do that so i told him to do his thing and take that offer. he said well i have 1 more line i'm capable of adding and my line i'm currently using runs out in 3months. so i can add this treo to a new line and give my phone to my son for his account. i said thats fine but you'll need a phone for you...

From what I know about returns and cancellations because it to happened to me. Is that once a line is canceled Sprint can search the ESN and see if it has been returned. If the ESN don't show up as being returned the phone is then billed to their account.

I had a customer activate and within the 14 day return period, he lost the phone. From what I gathered from the notes he called in saying he didn't have service and they canceled his account. The phone was not returned to the store (because he lost it). I called CC to see what would happen next and they said after a certain period of time if the phone is not returned it is charged to the account.

I work at a 3rd party place and we make our customers sign a seperate contract for the phone, so if you cancel the line within 6 months and don't return the phone, we charge you for the rebate.

There are ways around this (i wont tell) but when I get a call to cancel a line and a customer hasnt returned the phone i dont waive the ETF and note the account accordingly that ETF is not to be waived until the warehouse notes the account that the phone has been returned. If a customer claims the phone was returned we check the warehouse via ESN query or direct the customer to a sprint store where they claim the phone was returned so the store can note or waive the ETF accordingly. All our return kits include tracking numbers and if a customer "loses" it and try to file a claim and we have no evidence..tough luck.

If you don't return the phone, you'll be charged the additional $150 that you got off the price when you activated, so you might as well just bite the bullet and pay full price up front since you'll be paying for it anyway, plus the usage on the new phone

Customers that think this way ruin it for everyone else.... Take responsibility... Why look for ways to rip off the business man? These phones cost a lot more than you pay when you activate them. Example: Phone costs $180.00. YOu activate a plan on a contract you get phone for FREE, Cell Store earns $220.00, makes $40.00 net profit after commission. You cancel service within 6 months, the cell phone store's commission gets taken back. It is called a chargeback... You still have the phone that costs $180.00. You are stealing... Would you let you child steal? Why is it ok for you?

I haven't done it yet but when i do i'll send you a photo from jail for stealing haha just kidding. . . get a life dude no ones tryin to stick it to the business man it just bound to be its called karma... 😉

It is stealing because you are getting something for a certain price because you sign an agreement, but you do this knowing that you have no intention of fullfilling that agreement.
When you sign a 2 yr contract and pay $29.99 for a phone that costs $220.00 you do not own that phone until you have fullfilled that contract.
Let me put it into context that someone in your maturity level will understand. If your Mom agreed to pay you $20.00 to clean your room, paid you the $20.00 and all you did was make your bed, you would not be deserving of the $20.00. Why? I knew you would ask... Because you didnt pick the dirty clothes off the floor, you didnt clean out your closet, hang up your clothes, vacuum the floor, dust your shelves, etc.
But in...

Companies never do this? I think you might be surprised by how much "stealing" your company and others if you view this as stealing.

You must really be into the Kool-aid.

It's hilarious to me that when consumers start using the system to their advantage, much like companies, these companies get upset about others using the same tactics they do.

Wow another consumer advocacy group who thinks they deserve everything for free. You must think that every company screws you. You also have given no examples for your argument. So really we can all assume you are an idoit and a liar.

you will have to pay back the rebate you received on the phone, unless it was mail in, in which case you would never see the rebate money.
