This is pretty much the worst phone upgrade deal ever.

Am I reading Sprint's upgrade policy right? Every 18 months one gets to take $150 off full retail in the form of a mail in rebate, but ONLY if they've had no late payments during the last 18 months? That really, REALLY sucks.

If you knew anything about wireless you would actually understand why they do that. When a company allows you to upgrade your phone before your contract is up, since you are signing a new contract you are also under a new 14 day grace period where you can leave the company. So as not to give a loophole for customers to leave, they charge full price for the phone, and you get the other $150 back after the grace period as well as a new phone a full half a year before your contract is up. for some of the more loyal customers sprint is launching a new program in 3 days where you can wait a full two years and get a new customer price w/o rebate.

actually both of you are incorrect.

vzw_achieve. no you do not have to have a perfect payment history to get the rebate. it says something like "account must be with in good standing" what this means is when they process the rebate if your account is behind in payment you will not get the rebate. so in other words at the time the rebate processes your rebate you just cannot bebehind in rebates.

wri0010. when you first activate your service with sprint you have 14 days to reneg on your agreement and not have to pay the ETF that is the only time you get that. any time you renew your agreement there is no 14 day reneg policy. the reason is because you know exactly what you are getting you have already had 14 days. however you still can ge...

if I heard the conference call right it goes a little something

You can now renew 12 months within the contract so it breaks down like so

12 - 23 months
$75 mail in on a 2 year
$25 mail in on a 1 year

24 months and more
$150 mail in on a 2 year
$ 75 mail in on a 1 year

I think it is great. Sprint has made a living signing up the scum of the earth (people whose credit scores are so bad no one else will have them) and they had to have a policy that would reward the few good customers that they have.

The new system won't last long. Sprint is switching to instant rebates this October. I just got the final word today direct from my Sprint rep. 😎
