Question about i1?
Will the data run off of iDEN too, or Sprint? If it's a full iDEN phone, will it be extremely slow like all Nextel data? If it's fast, I'm coming back to Sprint!
...
It has WiFi, so it can do fast data where there is a decent WiFi signal. I think WiFi is where they expect users to do any and all of their data-intensive stuff with the i1.
It can do data on iDEN, but is reported to be about the same speed as a dial-up modem, just like any other Nextel phone since they shut off WiDEN. Most people would not even try doing data on iDEN with it. If you're not near wiFi, don't bother with data.
It does not have any link whatsoever to Sprint's CDMA network, nor to the new WiMax network. It is strictly iDEN + WiFi.

I think this particular phone comes pre-loaded with Opera Mini. The Opera browser is actually pretty fast-- even using it on dialup speeds. My old ic602 had 1XRTT, and with Opera Mini, clocked speeds at 2 MBPS. Opera uses a data compression technology that works very well actually. App downloads and videos would, however, require the WIFI.

Unless it was just where you were..the 602 was a hybrid phone and used Sprint's EVDO network. This phone will suck for internet, just like nextel blackberry does. Wifi is the only time its tolerable.

The 602 only had 1XRTT. The 902 was the only hybrid with EVDO. The Android interface, coupled with Opera Mini, will make it tolerable (although not great).

I don't know about that...its fine if i'm wrong. But i could've sworn all of the hybrids had evdo, my memory might be off tho.

Only the ic902 had EVDO, the 402, 502, and 602 all used Vision(2G).
