With the explosion of lower price plans (from everyone except verizon!) I'm looking to switch carriers, but as I read the reviews Sprint has received some unfavorable marks. How bad or inconsistant is it really? Is it worth switching to?

I switched to sprint recently from US Cellular (which i had for about 6 years) in West Virginia to get the HTC Hero. Since i have switched, i havent had any problems with reception. So far, im happy with the switch. At the very least, Sprint is worth a look.

been with them for 5 years... have had to call in a handful of times (keep in mind I pay my bill on time and everyone I talk to that has switched from sprint was always behind on the bill and was trying to bluff retention into giving them something for nothing) my issues have always gotten resolved.

my only concern is that when ever i ask for something non bill related Im never convinced they know what's going on b/c on occasion i've gotten different answers that completely contradict each other.... 😕 my wife calls and she gets issues resolved in one call... so maybe it's me.

Don't expect to call billing though and get accurate information on how to resolve a tech problem... just ask for tech

my attitude is give it a shot... the...

Our family just made the switch from Verizon. I've been with Verizon for 10 yrs or so and have had outstanding service. I made the switch to Sprint because of their affordable plans. So far I am pretty happy with their phone and internet service, their customer service, and their affordability.

My advice would be to give Sprint a try without porting your old number over and using a dummy number. This way, you can try the phone service without having to go back and forth and back and forth porting numbers - you have 30 days. If you are happy with the service, THEN you can port your old number over to Sprint.

Good luck with whatever decision you make.

I've been with Sprint for about 10 years. Switched to them because of a company discount. I have never had a problem, the three stores in the area have always had friendly customer service reps, and are able to handle any questions I might have, a lot of the reps have been there for years. I have phoned from a beach in Mexico, and a balcony in Italy, friends thought I was calling from next door. In contrast, my friend has an Iphone, and has to carry a second phone because he keeps losing reception with ATT. So give it a try, hopefully your area is as good as mine.

Yes i say give it a try. With Sprints most dependable network, exclusinve ReadyNow service where they will help personalize your phone, award winning devices and BEST VALUE in wireless you cant go wrong! Also ask to see if the company you work for has any discounts. If you work for the Government (schools, parks, police, etc) you get 15% off your invoice. If your company doesnt have a discount with Sprint, you can also check for other discounts. For example if you have a credit union, ANY credit union, you get 10% off per month just for being a member. Great savings believe me. Just give it a shot, you have 30 days, go to a Corporate store and look at the phones, ask questions, etc. Its a different version buying a phone online than personal...

Even though I do get commission for selling phones through calls, he is exactly right. Go to the store and let them not only sell you the phone but show you all of the features of the phone. Ready Now is a great tool that not enough people take advantage of.

The only word of caution I have is that if you decide to avoid the mail in rebate and buy a phone at Best Buy or Radio Shack, pay attention to the Welcome Call you'll have. (Your first outgoing call will be to a Sprint rep to ensure your account is set up properly. It isn't uncommon for some of the large chains to make mistakes.

I think I was just in a sprint commercial 😁 . Yes sprint is worth a try. Where is Dan Hess at anyway, he owes me for that poker game last week.
