If a phone that is a 2 months old is dead, will Sprint replace under manufacturer warranty for free?

I think the phone was shorted.

It depends on whether there is any physical damage to the device or evidence of water damage. If there's even light wear I've found Sprint to be unwilling to exchange the device for free.

I would go to a store and get their opinion. Sprint's been a lot more customer friendly these days. If you have TEP (or whatever they're calling it these days) you should be fine regardless.

Do you have insurance? TEP rather? If not, take it to the nearest full service center. Most corporate repair centers use the 1 year manufacturers warranty now, so even if you dont have insurance and they find it to be a manufacture defect, they should order you a replacement if they dont have one at the store. Hope this helps 😉

I would definitely go through the manufacturer of the phone (contrary to popular belief, this is NOT Sprint) You will be without a phone for a couple of days, but if it's considered a manufacturer defect it will be replaced at no cost. If you go through TEP, and have a touch screen phone, you're looking at a $100 deductible for a 2 month old phone!

I actually work at a Corporate Sprint store that has a full service and repair center. We DO honor the manufacturers warranty at our stores now. Have been for months. If our tech's deem it a physical defect that the manufacturer would normally cover, we don't send people away, we take of it there. If you have TEP and its past your warranty, its the same thing. If its a model we no longer carry or no longer service and you have TEP, we replace it with a comparable model based on FEATURES.

If it deemed physical damage(water damage, cracked LCD, busted charging port), that is what replacement part of TEP is there for. Notasecret is a moron. If its physically damaged, the manufacter is not going to replace it for you. They are going to send y...

Oh yeah, if you have TEP and its physical damage, it is a $100 deductable for PDA phones and a $50 deductable for non PDA phones. Again, only if its PHYSICALLY DAMAGED by the end user. 🙂

Thanks guy. Nowhere did I say that a manufacturer would replace a phone that was physically damaged, I said it would be replaced if it was a manufacturer defect.
And as far as the exchanges you're talking about, in care we consider those advanced exchanges. A TRUE warranty exchange happens through the manufacturer of the phone (the company that makes the phone, not the one that sells it) And I gave the correct process for a manufacturer warranty replacement.

Guess what? Not only am I not a moron, I am damn good at my job and giving people correct information. I don't know why you felt the need to be so quick about calling me names.

LOL. You just insinuated that if go thru TEP they would automatically have to pay a $100 deductible. That is not correct. If its a physical defect that would be covered under a manufacturers warranty, we handle that at the RETAIL STORE LEVEL under the ESRP part of TEP. In other words, WE HANDLE THE TRUE WARRANTY AT THE REATAIL LEVEL.

If you send it back to the manufacturer, good luck getting it back in under 2 weeks, much less a few days. My apologies for calling you a moron, but your info is just plain wrong. This happens all the time unfortunately that what a customer is being told at the care level just doesn't end up being correct at the retail level.

These things go both ways. I get so many customers all day who are given incorrect info in the store and have to deal with screaming lunatics because of it.
I just reviewed KMS and this was a change that I was not aware of, so I will now be giving different information to my customers.

And for the record, this is my exact statement about the deductible. "If you go through TEP, and have a touch screen phone, you're looking at a $100 deductible for a 2 month old phone! "

So, sure, an idiot would think I said any phone would have a $100 deductible, but anyone who can read would know otherwise 🙂

Just to clarify peeps, by "Physical Defect" and Physical Damage are two different things. Its easier to say its a software defect instead of Physical...its been a while since ive heard of the Manufacturer fixing a physical defect. Correct me if im wrong 😛

Ladies, please calm down with the name calling 😈
Lol jk you'll be okay as long as you take it to a full service center to have it checked at. Im glad you check...
