Sprint 3rd on list of possible bankruptcy's this year

New ATT Guy

3. Sprint Nextel

Sprint Nextel is bleeding customers, and could lose as many as 4.4 million net post-paid subscribers this year.

This is a huge problem when you have large amounts of maturing debt over the next few years.

A recent Deutsche Telekom acquisition rumor offered some hope, but that appears to have faded. Facing a difficult road ahead on its own, the company better keep its lawyers on speed-dial.

A guess from someone completely outside of the industry. A bankruptcy, in my opinion, is a long shot at best. Sprint doesn't have any cash flow problems at the moment.

That being said, Sprint needs to stop bleeding customers and start to add them again. Creative rate plans may start to turn the tide...finally.

Where is your source coming from? Shouldn't this comment by a jealous ATT rep be in the rumor mill. If anything AT&T will go bankrupt way befrore Sprint will. The reason being is that Sprint has more valuable assets to stay afloat tham you could imagine. Check your sources. People want to buy something valuable. This is why no offers are made to AT&T.

Man, I hope not. Losing another carrier would be disastrous for consumers. If we are left with only two options, prices will slowly begin to rise. AT&T already mirrors pretty much every VZW plan already. I remember when they changed their plans (only keeping Rollover) back in the day. Without Sprint and T-Mobile I shudder to think what wireless would be like. Maybe a third party will rescue them? I'd prefer someone besides DT step in if it does come to that. I keep thinking that it is Sprint's reputation that is dragging on them. A name change might not be a bad idea. Google perhaps?

Nope, it does mean they are "veering" towards bankruptcy like the article says. That doesn't mean they will or won't by the way.

Some deaths are quick and painless an others are slow, drawn out and agonizing

Let's hope Sprint goes down kicking and screaming. If they go down at all. I hope they recover from this funk.

Yahoo finance is the source for this article only because the writer was either paid by verizno or hates the fact they are stuck in a contract with another carrier. How is Sprint bleeding customers when they are cheaper than Verizon and AT&T. WAYYYYYYYYYYYYYY cheaper.

Doesn't surprise me. Nextel was the worse thing for them.

No way. Sprint was the worst. Nextel added their expertise and highest metrics in the industry to the mix. Sprint didn’t know how to execute and it is showing. Their failures are there.

I didn't mean Nextel was bad, I ment that Sprint made a bad move when they bought Nextel. Nextel could be even better then it is now, but Sprint never updated Nextels network. It's Sprints fault for buying Nextel. I don't think they were thinking all this stuff would come up.

Tactically and business like, Nextel was the right purchase. It gained spectrum, a network, fantastic metrics, management, and a niche product. I do agree with you that Nextel could be even better if they are on their own now teaming up with T-mobile USA or any other company.

True. Execution was lacking there.
