What is going to be Sprint's roaming network once they go to WIMAX? Are they going to have a LTE/WIMAX combo device, or are they planning on having true nationwide WIMAX coverage? Trolls need not apply. 😁

I dont think there will be roaming, because wimax is for Data and not Voice. Even if there WAS to be roaming for data, Verizon would limit it to 1xRTT either way. Also, im sure that it wouldnt matter because if there isnt 4G in your area, there should be Rev-A. I dont think Sprint would slap Wimax in the middle of the desert or the middle of nowhere and would force you to roam on another network if there wasnt coverage 😉

I guess I was under the impression that voice was also going to use the 4G network via VOIP. So are you saying the 3G network is going to stay in place indefinetly, and the 4G will be for data only?

Sprint will not have a WiMAX/LTE device anytime soon. So far it's going to be WiMAX/CDMA. It will be a very long time before Sprint deploys mobile WiMAX nation wide. Keep in mind Sprint doesn't have EvDO launched nationwide. There are some cities stuck with 1xRTT.

From the presentations I have seen we are looking at an addition 15 or so WiMax cities before the End of November.

Also as far as devices go, I have seen two phones, a UMPC tablet, a netbook, a slew of data cards, a WiFi/WiMax modem combo, and more all slated to drop before end of 2009.

Sprint is moving the 4G out quickly this year by converting existing Clearwire markets to their Clear market 4G standard.

What phones have you seen? The Moto and Samsung phones in Korea using WiBro? I've seen the majority of devices that Clear and Sprint are launching, but phones? Were the phones Sprint or Clear branded, and when did FCC approve of these "phones"? Would love to know more about these "phones". Thanks in advance.

2G, 3G, and now 4G. Yikes! And here I am, happy as a clam, toting around my 2G phone. It may not get email, it may not get apps, but it makes calls and it texts, and I like that.

That's why I run my business cells on Metro. Great coverage in South Florida, but no frills.
