I cannot believe Sprint actually has taken on a competitor head on! I'm loving this. BlackBerry Tour releasing on July 12th! A mainstream phone, without plan limitations, that has some excitement attached to it.

Yeah I'm thinking about giving up my Curve 8900 and T-mobile and getting the Tour! The only thing is the lack of WI-FI....

Honestly, the only time you'll really notice the lack of wifi is if you are 1) overseas and attempting to make "free" calls with Skype or something like it 2)in an area where Sprint doesn't have data coverage but someone has a wifi network.

A lot of my friends have phones with wifi (I'll prolly get the tour in a few months, still using a dumbphone myself) and they rarely, if ever, use it. It's largely a battery drain if you have it on full time. Ask anyone you know who has the "bold" (ATT's version of this phone) how much they end up using the wifi.

Yeah, the Blackberry Bold is painfully outdate next to the Storm, Curve 8900, and Tour 9630, but I found out that Sprint does not have 3G in my area, so it looks like I will be sticking with the T-mobile 8900.

No, you can't.

Don't give the customer false information.

You can ONLY roam "free" on a carrier if that carrier has a roaming agreement for the towers in your area. They have different agreements for EVDO and for Voice.

Just because some areas can roam for free off of each others network does not mean you can do it nationwide. A Good example is the county where my store is in. This entire county is EVDO Rev-A for Verizon. Sprint has minimal voice only coverage along the highway, but next to nothing once you travel more than 5 miles away from it.

Verizon EVDO != Sprint EVDO, Just like sprint towers doesn't mean my Verizon phone will work in the area.

I don't try bashing one company over another, but seriously.. you guys ke...

Hopefully this will help.....if you live in an area that was Alltel and had Alltel EVDO you will recieve EVDO on the Blackberry Tour. Chances are that it is EVDO RevO, but the only true difference between RevA and RevO is the upload speed. Most download speeds are comparable.

The roaming agreement between Sprint and Alltel has to be honored by Verizon for ten years from the original date of agreement per the FCC, which was in 2006. Menno is exactly right about Verizon and Sprint's roaming agreements. They vary from place to place. Where I live, we only share voice roaming. Thankfully, Verizon has only been in this market for a short time (three years) and their coverage is so so at best. Where I disagree with Menno is At&t having better ...

I don't dislike sprint. They are a great value for people where they offer coverage. The "now network" commercials are also some of my favorite for the industry right now. I'm just tired of that "we can roam off of any verizon tower since it's the same technology" line people seem to be talking about. It's like a Verizon troll saying "It's the network" when someone is talking about Philly/some other big city where everyone has coverage, or an ATT troll responding to every thread with something iphone related.

If you have the brain capacity to use google, check out the FCC's approval of Verizon taking over Alltel. They HAVE to honor the roaming agreements in place for ten years from the original date of contract signing.

Verizon fanboys like you and Sgt. Joker are so small minded when it comes to the reality of wireless. Verizon NEEDS Sprint coverage in many places. So why would they end roaming agreements with other carriers when those agreements help mighty Verizon just as much.

Verizon is not the perfect carrier. When you realize this you won't seem like such and idiot and quit posting stupid things like you just did. 🙂

You can roam on VZ's 1X network but not EVDO. Sprint only has EVDO roaming with Alltel.

its pathetic that you have to roam so much, maybe if sprint wasn't losing millions of customers and billions of dollars they could build out their tiny native footprint. come 2012 verizon won't have to honor nothing and sprint will probably become an MVNO...while wimax will fail. everyone else will be enjoying LTE!

Your an idiot the contract with Alltel is for the next ten years. And you always say losing millions like they actively are losing millions, they haven't lost a million in a quarter since last year.

LTE will only work for customers moving into an LTE phone. Tens of millions of people will still have regular CDMA phones, which wont work on the LTE towers. You should know better than that. Come on Joker, don't dissapoint me that bad. 😳

Now that we own Alltel (Which is Sprint's first choice on PRL). Now it's all Verizon. Verizon loves the nice check from Sprint each month! Thanks! 🤣
