Samsung m550 or why am I with Sprint?

I called about info about an phone upgrade. I was given acct information that I already had. I was put on hold for 5min when I asked about a recent new phone - samsung m550. I was put on hold for 10min when I asked when it would be released since I thought it had been released june 6th.

I have been a customer for 10 years. Each time I interact w/ Sprint customer service, the service is getting worse. When I am about to renew a contract, I should be able to get the information I need for my new phone. Or, I can become somebody else's customer. The sales staff do not have the information they need to assist me.

So, in the end, what did I get from Sprint customer service? They sa...

It is available from Bestbuy and probably other 3rd party dealers. They intended to launch it on the 6th/7th directly from Sprint, but it apparently was delayed so they could focus on the Pre. My best guess is that it will be a few weeks before being launched directly.

That model isn't a major launch and is being released in between when most launches happen. The info on it has been sparse at best, compared with the Pre. A lot of reps haven't even heard of the m550 and won't until it is actually released directly. That's not an excuse, just why. It's a situation that can happen with any similar release.

For questions like that, it's usually better to do an email inquiry:

It's not available thu 3rd party vendors. I've been looking for two weeks now and it's available at Best Buy or RadioShack. Nobody seems to know much about it. It's an interesting way to do a product release. Don't tell anyone about it. Don't give much information to your vendors. I think it's more likely that Sprint is just wanting to push phones and plans that require the data portion.

I guess it's like releasing the rotary phone if you are also releasing push-button phone. That is if the push-button phone was priced twice as much and on a subscription plan.

Why are you with Sprint, then? The best things about Sprint are the data services and cheaper plans that include data. If I didn't use data, I'd go with AT&T or Verizon or prepaid.

Complaining about that is like complaining, "they want me to put music on my ipod!" Yeah, no duh.

Back to reality, though, the m550 isn't that great of a phone. It feels cheap and plasticky, and has mediocre feature...

(X) that is how they treat their customers hence why they're losing a million customers each of every quarter... they refuse to improve their customer service and their network is sub-par compared to the other carriers. good luck with them 🙄

😕 to be frank I haven't put down my Pre to play with it... It does feel a LOT more solid than Pantech's dual sliding devices.... more impressions after the break....

It's a tad longer and wider than the touch pro. Feels very sturdy in comparison to Pantech dual sliders. Camera performs very similarly to the Rant. Keyboard is spaced out well, I prefer the non rubberry keys to that of the rant. As far as non-smartphones go, it's very nice, if you like the one-click interface. I don't believe it has threaded sms, but then again, our model is not in service....
