My wife and I have been Sprint customers going on 9 years now, we just went to a store here in nashville, that HAD Palm Pre phones in stock, and I was basicly told that since i only had a 75 dollar rebate they would order one for me for mon or tue, but wouldnt sell me a Pre.

This is complete bullshit on Sprints part, why would you screw over your existing customers?

No, I Have had my Mogul since about 6 months after it came out, though I did have issues, and was given a new one, Aug. was when i was supposed to have the 150 discount.

well the upgrade may only be 75 because you may have unknowingly upgraded with in the past couple years or you just havent had your mogul long enough. So the price was gonna suck any ways. but they should have still sold you the phone reguardless. Something tells me you went to a 3rd party because, the corprate stores could careless if you get a upgrade or buy it full price, they still get paid. thats just the reality of it, and probably the reason you were sent away from the shady 3rd party

I dont know how it is with sprint retailers, but I know here (we sell verizon) we don't sell smartphones outright (without a contract) we might also do this for newer "hot" phones. Mainly because the phones are hard for us to get in, and not having a phone for a contract can kill our business.

Basically the same concept here for us as well. As a 3rd party dealer in Indiana. We were told to make the best of our palm pre shipments mainly because many 3rd party won't be getting a steady shippments of them quite yet. So yes we were basically told not to sell them outright.

So your best bet on something like this would prob be going to a "corporate" store.

they make more on new lines or full upgrades. you are still in contract so they do not care about you.

I honestly am highly impressed with the phone and the way its built. It doesnt crash like other PDA's ive played with. Its really smooth and steady. I have 17 pages up and it didnt seem to freeze up at all. The camera is AWESOME, especially when you rotate the screen it flips ba...

I agree with everything you said. I am hoping the pre is a solid device and many apps get written for it. it may help sprint reverse the trend but wont fix the problem all together

What a bunch of b.s. Try EBAY, there is a bunch of PRE's for sale. If your not eligible for a 2 year upgrade or a new customer, good luck on getting one.

Not a Sprint customer, but interested in Pre tech. Seems that web has become a disinformation stage for whiny Primadonna's.

Why not wait a few days for the actual Pre users to cast a few stones?

I do have a question: Is "phonescoop' a Verizon owned site?

THAT IS FREAKING HILARIOUS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I don't think it is, but to any casual reader they might infer that is true. I guess with their "80 million" customers comes 80 million uneducated fanboys. 😁

Exactly. Just a troll that has no idea what he's talking about. I also love how everyone is knocking the Pre just because it is exclusive to Sprint and they can't get it with their carrier.

If Apple would have created this phone and/or Verizon would have carried it, it would be the greatest thing since sliced bread. Get a life!

No, if verizon would've carried it people would be trolling the verizon forum complaining about the crippled UI (Verizon allows smartphones to do their own things) or how it blocks from super rare form of Bluetooth that the phone doesn't support anyway but since Verizon has the phone they were obviously the ones that disabled it.

I agree with your statement about apple though. They could make a phone that wouldn't turn on but people would still love it because of how stylish it was. 🙄

Sprint Pre fans were trolling the verizon forums for the past few months about the Pre, or about Sprint's Price Points.

With the ho/hum review the Pre got from phonescoop, you should expect people like Sgt_Joker.

Most people who make fun ...

Was it a corporate store or 3rd party? If it was a corporate store, if I were the customer I'd ask to speak to the store's manager. That failing, ask to Speak to the district manager.

If you were willing to pay the $550- $75 then it really makes no difference to them (a corporate store at least). It's a sell and counts the ...

Forgot to add- the only restriction was that it had to be activated at purchase (no cold purchases). If someone wanted to pay full price or only had a $75 discount then it makes no difference for a corporate store or rep.

I know lots of stores were saving the Pre for new customers and if you wanted to upgrade you had to order one. This is why Sprint loose customers. They don't treat the ones they have good enough.

Only a local 3rd party would do that simply because of how they are compensated. They loose money if they sell a phone outright and make almost nothing on a 13-22 month upgrade.
This is not the case with corporate retail or national retail.

Unfortunately Sprint allows local exclusive dealers to put out the Sprint shingle without identifying themselves with their real company name. Business cards, forms, signs and everything would indicate to a customer that they are corporate Sprint. Then when the dealer has unfriendly policies the consumer thinks that those are Sprint's policies.

Some of these dealers do a fantastic job and others should just lose their contract with Sprint they are that terrible. I'm sure reps from corporate retail...

So Verizon switched out my Motorola slvr l7c 3 times due to bad software...then gave me the LG Envy...which ended up getting switch out 3 times because the IM would power cycle the phone when I used it. Plus the corporate store called me a liar and said there is nothing wrong with the phone, as he stood there and watched it.

Then gave me the LG Voyager i ended up switching that out 2 times in a month..and all this happened in less than 6 months. Plus they upgraded my contract early without my knowledge.

Your exactly right Verizon is Sooooooo great, GO VERIZON! Customers of Verizon are slowly coming around and opening their eyes. Maybe one day you will too 😁

Dude, it's simple. you are eligible for an upgrade every 2 years...2 YEARS! that upgrade is worth a minimum of $150. now, luckily for you, sprint is being nice and since you're not eligible for that upgrade, but you've had your current phone for at least a year, they're meeting you halfway and giving you $75 off (half of 2 years=half the upgrade). most cell companies don't even do that, so you should consider yourself lucky
