Listen Ive had Sprint for the past 5 years and although the wireless service is good, the customer service sucks. Ive had the Katana DLX for the past 2 years and Ive been waiting and waiting for a new phone but sprint takes FOREVER to get one, then when one comes out they want me to pay almost full price for the phone. Then when you threaten to cancel service, they dont try anything to keep you. I call anywhere else for any other service I have and if I tell them I'm not happy with what I get, then they do what they can to help me. I can easily go to another provider and get a brand new phone for cheap.
Anyone have any good tips on getting a new phone with sprint without breaking the bank? Oh and Id rather not end up calling the other ...

I'm sorry, I am not understanding the situation correctly. You are angry with Sprint customer service, because they aren't willing to give you an early upgrade? You said you have a katana DLX, I am sure you will qualify for a upgrade sometime soon. No need to wrry, just go into any local Sprint store and see what they can qualify you for.
...
Upgrade discounts come at 22 months (or 12 months for premier customers). If you've really had your DLX for 2 years then you can renew and get discounted pricing on whatever phone you want.
As for canceling, they try to retain customers unless they customer is very low value or a chronic issue account.
Your post almost sounds like sarcasm in how many cliches there are that just don't add up.

I have the $150 discount but because I have to pay so much for the phone itself I really dont see it. Plus sprint has had crappy phones for the past few months. Im just getting tired of sprint. Every other company comes out with a new phone like every 2months or so and they have options, with sprint I dont have that.
Then that special package (sprint premiere) is given to "loyal" customers but it really dosent offer too much. I guess they have to do something to keep who they have right?....
My friend works for Verizon and they give out free phones all the time, but sprint wont budge on giving me a phone. Why am I going to pay a ridiculous amount out of pocket when I can go somewhere else and get better phones for free or less than ha...

As obvious of a troll as this is, humor me here.
What phone were you looking at getting, and what do you see you'll have to pay?
...
what he doesnt understand is that the upgrade offer is AT LEAST $150 off of a new phone. when you look in a store, the prices after rebate are clearly posted. you do get the "new customer" price. dont get so hung up on that 150 number
...
u are rediculous! you haven't experienced bad customer service! you are mad that sprint won't give u the phone of your dreams for free...guess what posting here wont get that either...go to verizon or att and pay $20 more per month and get your ****ty free phone! 🤣 if you want the most dependable network, best value in wireless then you will stay where you are and pay $50 for a phone...other wise take your complaining self elsewhere!!!!!!! 🙄 🙄
...
HAHAHAHAHA You MUST work for Sprint, in a retail store... I like how you managed to work some of the "Sprint Mantra" into your little blog post there buddy. 🤣
...
So Basically what you are saying is you will go to Verizon and pay $30-$40 bucks more per month so that you can get a free phone once a year. So you are paying $400 more per year for a plan with less minutes and even less reliable service rather then pay $150 one time to get the phone you want. Oh I see that makes complete sense. No wonder the economy is in the toilet. You pay for what you get.
...
Having good customer service has nothing to do with giving some d-bag a free phone everytime you ask for one. You don't like your phone choices? Fine, bye..peace out. But that has nothing to do with customer service.
...
If they won't budge that means they won't make any money off you if they do. If they don't make money off you then they can't afford to pay for better customer service.
See the disconnect?
Customer service does not equal giving stuff away to people who feel entitled. If you want high quality stuff for free go back and live under mommy & daddy's dime and let them pay for it for you. Nobody else owes you anything more than they choose to offer.
...
Very well put. I coulnt agree with you more!!!
...
Are you serious?! You are eligible for a $150 discount and you are whining. PLEASE don't come to Verizon! Don't need a headache like you.

I appricaite all the fan boys of sprint taking the time out to respond, it helps. so to reply to all of your comments.
1. Paying extra for great customer service and support goes a long way. Look at T-Mobile and how they pulled themselves out and how did they do it, great customer service. Not that Im a huge fan of T-Mobile but its just to make my point on customer service.
2. All the free phones are garbage. You might like them and say they are worth it but not me. The curve and instinct have been out for close to year and the HTC touch pro has been the newest phone they had (besides the the new treo and rumor). BTW the new rumor has nothing "new" about it. The lotus looks like my lil sister could use it. The phone I do want is the p...

How "cool" a phone is depends on what features you are looking for.
To me, none of the phones offered by the other national carriers would meet up to my expectations because they all lack the unique features found on Nextel phones.
What other wireless company has phones that work off-network? What other company has over 20 ruggedized military spec phones rated for dust, shock, and vibration? What other company has phones that perform when all of the telephone lines are down? What other company has phones that allow you to instantly connect to 200 people at the same time?
So basically, which carrier has the best lineup of phones is a matter of personal opinion.
...
but you use the renegade so most those pluses don't count for you

*Groan* You are killing me. No one is entitled to a "free" phone. I cannot wait until the bottom drops and customers have to purchase handsets full retail from the manufacturers.
...
Have you seen Tmobile phones....They are crap!!
The only reason I love tmobile is because they dont bill a month in advance like sprint does. Working for customer service in sprint, that is what caused me the most headaches. Tmobile cannot even match Sprints network or their phone. And the offers arent as rich. In sprint, again if they consider you a valuble customer, you can get really rich offers. But if your whole base for complaining is better phones, then youre better off at sprint

How one thinks a business can survive by providing services and giving away everything away baffles me.

He doesn't care if Sprint maintains profitability.
